Wait…he hasn’t officially announced yet. I just wanted to get ahead of the curve before the thread fills up about who’s making up what.
What a day for the troglodytes! Kucinich is running – which will instantly reveal the hypocrisy of most of the other Democrats who wanted to be for the war when it was popular and against it when it was popular- ; Jefferson is re-elected , deep sixing the Republican ‘culture of corruption’ charge- and putting it on the Democrats front burner.
Yes, one Democrat who has been stripped of his power is the same as a litany of Republicans arrested, removed from office and hauled off to prison who were protected by their leadership. Yep, same thing.
Maybe he can calls ome attention to the train wreck that is the Bush environmental record.
I would really like it if wingnuts would stop blaming “Democrats” for sending Jefferson back to congress. It was the voters in his district who did so. I, as a registered democrat, supported and contributed a small amount to his challenger’s campaign. Not living in LA there isn’t much more I could do. Blaming “Democrats” for returning Jefferson isn’t much different from blaming Republicans for electing Joe Lieberman.
As to Kucinich, I think it’s good that he’s in the race. Do I think he has a chance? No. But he’ll make sure that some populist issues which might otherwise get ignored are at least talked about on the stump.
I’m not so sure Kucinich is in the race for anything more than a vanity ploy. I never really got the feeling last election that Kucinich was moving the pack of Dems anymore to the left and even if he had I’m not sure it would have been a good thing.
After all, a politician may attempt to frame themselves as more liberal in a Democratic primary if faced with attacks from the left, but how many actually change their positions, or would govern more to the left if elected to office.
Additionally, judging by the ‘06 elections, I think it is quite likely that populism and a draw-out of Iraq will remain two of the central issues of the campaign–with our without Kucinich.
I love Kucinich. The man is just crazy enough to say what’s on his mind without regard to how it will affect his chances. … probably because he has no chance. But still.
Rehinhard.
“stop blaming “Democrats” for sending Jefferson back to congress. ”
I feel your pain, man, and I don’t give a rats *ss. Every time a Republican f*rts in the bathtub in Kalamazoo Michigan, OW and you guys are out there blaming every Republican from Juneau to Key West.
I like Kucinich. Probably partly because I never lived in Cleveland. He’ll be President when Dick Cheney freezes over, but still, he’s kind of fun to have around at an election.
OOhh….when do you think he is going to pop up with his “Department of Peace” proposal….I can’t wait for that one!
I think I could help Dennis the Menace market himself.
Picture Kucinich in an intimidating Big Bird type outfit, clearly the Alpha Fowl, with a bunch of little parakeets flitting around him, twittering: “I’m KooKoo for Kucinich! I’m Kookoo for Kucinich!’
(yes, Mr and Mrs America, this is what happens when OW doesn’t post interesting stuff for a while)

Well, see, that’s a problem right there. If it fits Kucinich, there’s no way it could be considered a “big” bird. OK, maybe if they had Dennis’ face sticking out of the belly and built a big fake head on top, they could get it up near 6′.
