Never mind the religious crap and never mind which religious comic book they’re using to swear someone in. #Why not have all public officials swear upon the US Constitution, which is what they’re in office for in the first place!

For once, I agree with the consensensus of OW.com readers.

Prager’s one of the biggest reasons why I no longer consider myself a member of the GOP. The Evangelicals have taken over the party.

And if I ever was elected, I’d opt for a stack of Sports Illustrateds.

Damn, isn’t it fun to watch the overzealous right-wing I Don’t Mind A Theocracy As Long As It’s A Jesus Theocracy crowd piss all over themselves over a Muslim in Congress?

Do you suppose a single one of the Bible-thumping America haters have paused for even one second to think that if they hadn’t spent all their time trying to weaken the wall between Church and State, they wouldn’t have to worry about a Muslim in Congress, because there would be a (boing!) separation of church and state?

If there are any Quakers in Congress (to tell the truth, I’m not even sure myself–somebody told me the other day about one), they probably would pass on swearing an oath on the Bible.

Our people will generally “affirm” rather than swear and many will pass on the hand-on-the-Bible thing.
