Insane

Michael Richards, aka Kramer from Seinfeld, is apparently an insane racist.

It’s okay. He’ll be out of work for a while, but four years from now he can run for Minority Whip in the Senate.

  2. Hedley says:

Or, he could “apologize” and then become President Pro Tempore of the Senate – 3rd in line to be President.

  3. How disappointing it is to see a beloved figure acting that way. I guess he’ll go into alcohol rehab in about 5 hours. Same day as Mark Foley gets out, too.

  4. Wilbur says:

No, Headley, that would take about 40 years. He’ll probably go senile first.

  5. Wilbur says:

Of course, then he could run for president on the Republican ticket and be hailed as the Great Communicator.

  6. z adura says:

Isn’t Michael Richards Jewish? Uh, dude, 50 years ago you were not part of the “we” who was killing black people. You and your fellow Jews were considered part of the problem. At least people took it for what it was and left.

  7. Nimrod Gently says:

I keep getting “bad error”, which is kind of awesome in its way, but here’s CNN’s report:

  8. StarkyLuv says:

And there’s no end of “black comedians say ‘nigger’ all the time!” all over the ‘net.

It’s not like he said ‘nigger’ in a vacuum. He actually said that years ago, those hecklers would’ve been hung upside down with “forks up their ass”. And he wasn’t joking, he said it in seething anger.

This explosion of racist anger is disappointing, but not shocking (as Mr. Richards thought it would be). It’s unfortunate that the hecklers responded by calling him a “cracker”. You can’t fight hate with hate.

But no matter what the hecklers were doing to rile him up (he’s not used to being heckled?) nothing excuses this attack. It wasn’t in character, it wasn’t satire, he was serious.

And what makes it all the more pathetic is the lack of imagination. Some black people were heckling you and all you can come up with in response is calling them niggers and yearning for a time when you could lynch them and stick forks up their ass? And what is it with racists and right-wingers and sticking things up men’s asses anyway?

Like there’s such a thing as a *sane* racist?

  10. Quaker in a Basement says:

After the three-minute tirade, it appears the majority of the audience members got up and left in disgust.

    Good on them!

  11. frameone says:

“After the three-minute tirade, it appears the majority of the audience members got up and left in disgust.”

Unlike, for instance, the honky tonk morons who clapped along to Borat’s “Throw the Jew Down the Well” song, as seen on You Tube as well.

  12. StarkyLuv says:

That’s what makes Borat funny. He reveals some of the ugliness of Americans. It’s hilarious and sad at the same time.

  13. Marty says:

Damn, Starkley- You had me on Richards all the way up until you threw in that last “right wingers” line.

Other than that- that’s twice today!

And Borat is funny for about 10 minutes at a time. Unless you’re from Kazhiczkstan.

(Yeah- I know I spelled it wrong.)

  14. Duros62 says:

    That’s what makes Borat funny.

Plus the fact that he’s jewish, kind of deflects it a bit.

  15. Quaker in a Basement says:

Plus the fact that he’s jewish

Presumably, the “honky-tonk morons” frame refers to are not.

  16. StarkyLuv says:

Marty, it’s Starky. I don’t know who “Starkley” is but I assume you were referring to me. What’s so out of the way about referring to right-wingers?

And yes, Sasha Baron Cohen is Jewish, which makes his jokes that much more potent. He’s revealing misogyny, racism, homophobia and cultural ignorance of some Americans by pretending to be a racist, misogynistic, homophobic and culturally ignorant person.

  17. fd10801 says:

If only Kramer had, say, ridden on the same bus a Republican, or spoken to a Republican politician once, or donated a buck or two to the Republicans, then we could we whip out that, “See! All Republicans are racists” card…
    Qu’elle dommage

  18. StarkyLuv says:

I never say Republicans are racist. Please point me to where I did (hint: you can’t).

But ALL right-wingers ARE racist. It’s part of the prerequisites.

You can be a Republican and not be a right-winger. Republican, Democrat, Conservative. Those are POLITICAL descriptions. Right-winger is an IDEOLOGICAL one. I challenge you to find a hard right-winger that’s not a racist. And I challenge you to find a racist that’s not a right-winger.

This will all lead to “what’s the difference between a bigot and a racist?” I’d rather not go down that road.

  19. JWG says:

    And I challenge you to find a racist that’s not a right-winger.

    Louis Farrakhan is a right-winger?

  20. Nimrod Gently says:

    Yes. Yes, he is.

I think I’m the only person on Earth getting this “bad error” shit. But just in case, here.

  21. Marty says:

But ALL right-wingers ARE racist. It’s part of the prerequisites.

    Starkley,

I guess you’ll have to start defining your terms, because in this particular ‘tube’ the terms “right winger” and Republican always seem to be synonymous. Same with the term “racist” and “bigot.” For example- most of the people who post here that dissent from the dominant view on this blog are considered “right wingers” by the people who share Oliver’s view of the world. And yet does that make all of us racists?

I guess it would help if you could define or give examples of people you consider to be “right wingers.” Which non-left or non-center left people who post here do you consider “right wingers” and “racists?”

Then let’s have some examples of Republicans who you consider conservative, but not “right wingers.” For example- is the current President of the United States a) a conservative b)a right winger, c) a racist, d) b and c, e) all of the above, f) none of the above, or g) layers. Just layers.

(And the Starkley thing- it’s a play on words, but if it offends you I’ll stop calling you that.)

  22. Marty says:

Oh yeah- to answer your question:

    I challenge you to find a hard right-winger that’s not a racist. And I challenge you to find a racist that’s not a right-winger.

    How about Michael Richards?

  23. Jay says:

    And I challenge you to find a racist that’s not a right-winger.

    There’s plenty.

  24. Nimrod Gently says:

    ….so?

  25. Quaker in a Basement says:

I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen anybody set fire to a million bucks on tape.

  26. Nimrod Gently says:

    …Well? Jay? Names?

    Jay?

    Hello?
