    to quote the unestimable RWR…

“I will never use my opponents relative youth and inexperience against him….”!

And we all remember how THAT election went.

But to be fair….the big question is staring you right in the face on the picture of McCain….see that big line on his cheek?

That was a wide local excision of an advanced melanoma. Those things just float around for a while, then they come back at you in 5-10 years, usually in the liver or brain…not a good thing…

Unortunately, I also remember how the Reagan Presidency went. That’s not making more inclined towards McCain.

Apparently, his senility has led McCain to the delusion that there are more troops to send to Iraq, which is what he supports. Sad to see a man’s critical thinking diminish that way.

Not McCain! bin Laden could turn the tables and assassinate a US President the same way Bush is trying to take bin Laden out: with old age.

And we all remember how Mr. Reagan ended his presidency: with Nancy whispering his lines in his ear.

This is not a fair comparison. I am the same age as John Edwards. I look at him, I look in the mirror, I look at him, I look in the mirror. Either he won a the gene-pool prize or I got screwed!

More seriously. John McCain’s age, as such, is not going to be an issue. I do wonder, though, how his Reagan-like style and manner of speaking will play with people in the 25-40 range.

John McCain’s biggest asset will be that the corporate press/media will continue to portray him favorably and will attack or suppress any source that challenges his image or reflects negatively on him. In short, they will treat him the same way they have treated Bush.

Too right you are, J-Pow. Seems there’s never an interveiw with McCain where the interviewer doesn’t trip over his own tongue trying to get “Straight Talk! Straight Talk!” on the transcript.

I’d NEVER vote for him. He wants to overturn Roe v. Wade.

What I want to know is why all of you are questioning the patriotism of a former POW and war hero. Have you no shame? The ’swift-borking’ (tm Dugger) of McCain has begun.

  11. Gravatar Icon 11 Nimrod Gently

Does “Swift-borking” mean “complete bollocks you just pulled out of your arse”?

He’s 53 at the moment, does that help? While does have a youthful appearance (the gene pool helps and he takes pretty good care of himself), but the point is more that Edwards has the energy to lead (and he does as he runs 5-6 miles daily) for 8 years when Bush Co has put us our country at great risk, both financially and with national security.

  13. Gravatar Icon 13 benny05

“when Bush Co has put us–our country– at great risk, both financially and with national security” is what I meant to say. oops.

actually dugger it is worse than that….they are questioning the worth of our elderly, assuming that they are all riddled with alheimer’s and drooling into their farina.

It’s a disgrace that the democrats don’t respect our older, wiser members of our society…

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 Nimrod Gently

OMG IT IS A DISGRACE IT IS WORSE THAN NAZI GERMANY YOU GUYS

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 midderpidge

I can see that Pedrugger will vote and support John McCain to become the Republican presidential candidate.

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy

McCain imagines that there are more troops to send to Iraq, when there aren’t. That’s just a factual impairment, to say nothing of his massive judgement impairment, indicated by his desire to sacrifice more American lives on the altar of “seriousness.” McCain clearly needs some bed rest and some cream of wheat.

Playing the silly bugger so early in the morning, Dugs?

Swift-boating of Kerry: claiming that he won his medals under false pretenses, that he falsified his accounts of his missions, that he didn’t serve dangerous duty, and that he engaged in treasonous behavior.

Your “swift-borking” of McCain: speculating on how the electorate will evaluate his age and discussing his positions on current policy issues.

One of these things is different, Dugger.

Not really quaker…wait for the inevitable “questions swirl” about McCain being soft in the head because he was hung from his shoulders for three days at a time by the ‘Cong.

They did the same thing to Admiral Stockdale…

I suspect you’re right. It remains to be seen, however, if those questions will be floated by Democrats this time, or by Republicans just like in 2000.

  21. Gravatar Icon 21 greennotGreen

I would never vote for McCain. Anyone with a comb-over that severe is not part of the reality-based community.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 Quaker in a Basement

Wow, that is an impressive combover. I understand the Japanese refer to it as a “barcode.”

  23. Gravatar Icon 23 Quaker in a Basement

They did the same thing to Admiral Stockdale…

And with Stockdale, they were right.

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 latts

I didn’t see anyone question McCain’s patriotism, misguided though many probably think it is– his age, health, honesty, and judgment, though, are all a bit questionable at this point.

  25. Gravatar Icon 25 Dugger

Hey latts. Also, Superman ain’t real. Post that next time OW mentions the person of steel.

  26. Gravatar Icon 26 Jeff

Funny when people say our country is more at risk now than pre-Sept.11

Do I need to explain? George Bush has done an admirable job on national security. If only we could profile…
And build something to keep people we don’t want in out… hmm, what could we build?
