They win.
We win.
Whatever, just make the election be over with. The suspense is literally killing me (and I’m getting overload here in MD with ads for races in MD and VA clogging the airwaves.)
Gods of politics: I don’t need a wave. I need 16 seats.
UPDATE: The generic ballot question has bumped up for the Republicans, but I didn’t push much stock in this when Dems were something like +20. The race is about local congressmen and their support or lack of support for the current administration. It’s a little like the polls with Unnamed Democrat vs. Bush in ‘03-04. The poll that counted was Kerry vs. Bush.
Most importantly, if the Dems win this election it’s because Bush & Co. fell apart and people want change. I’d much rather win these things when Democrats blast the GOP to smithereens (that means less hand-wringing two days out when your opponent is down by double digits). That means sustained fighting in the media (the Democratic establishment just doesn’t seem to see the value in having a presence on the three cable news channels) and ads that kick their opponent in the balls (if I see one more Dem complaining about an opponent’s ad while they don’t have a mean ad on air I will scream). I don’t get why we’ve always got to be the nice guy.
So, in other words, when pigs fly.
“the Democratic establishment just doesn’t seem to see the value in having a presence on the three cable news channels”
Democrats don’t control the media; business does, and business is hand-in-glove with the administration. I don’t think we should criticize Democrats for what the media chooses to cover, or how they cover it.
While I don’t disagree with your overall premise, you can’t complain when the Democrats DO NOT EVEN SHOW UP. If Dems show up and the media doesn’t cover it, that’s a problem. But they need to show up first.
The Dems WILL take the House and probably the Senate because of the Independents. I just don’t see someone who CLAIMS to be “independent minded” voting for such and incompetent and corrupt administration.
The “swing” voters will go Dem big-time. Repubs will “hold their nose” and vote Repub. Remember, they HATE Dems and will vote for Republicans just for spite.
“Cut of their noses to spite their faces.”
Vaguely related: hey, Dugger, Pedro, Marty – defend this:
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/010830.php
Will get right to it Nimmer. Just stare at your monitor and my response to your undoubtedly devastastating and not at all intellectually lazy reference to some biased, obscure Talking Points BS will appear any second now. Just keep staring.
Shorter Dugger: they haven’t given me my talking points on this subject yet…please wait.
Uh, Nimrod. O.K. JM is right. Those recorded auto calls I’ve been getting from the parties suck. And I’m looking forward to Wednesday when the campaign ads stop.
(There. I defended it. Is that what you were looking for? I do like how Dems have been pushing the “theft” theme just in case they don’t get the numbers they are hoping for though. As Oliver mentions here- if you are a believer in polls- the momentum seems to favor the GOP, though it may be too little too late.)
Even shorter Dugger: I CANNOT SEE OPINIONS THAT ARE NOT RIGHT-WING EXCEPT AS GIBBERISH IT IS A SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION PLEASE HELP ME
Keep staring at that monitor Nimmer. I’m just about to be devastated via your Talking Points referral.
BTW, Nimmer, While you waiting for my analysis, give me your in depth analysis of this: http://www.gmu.edu/departments/fld/CLASSICS/aquinas.q1.1.html.
I’ve never been particularly fond of Thomas Aquinas. Sure, he invented the Seven Deadly Sins but he also put women between men and insects in the aminal rankings. Are you making a point here, or just flailing?
Shorter Duggster:
You can’t prove what the phone machines were thinking when they called, so you can’t state with certainty that they were actually calling for the Republicans. Therefore, you haven’t proven anything about anyone, because nothing can ever be documented.
Nimmer
Why don’t you read the Summa Theologica and then lets talk.
What does the Summa Theologiae have to do with the Midterm Elections? Are you trying to satirise my invitation that you – gasp – read something that’s critical of Your Side? Because I’m here to tell you, you’re not doing it very well.
“I’m here to tell you, you’re not doing it very well.”
Well, now you’ve gone and hurt my feelings. And would I try to “satirise” you? Please. You would think that of me???
What on earth are you doing, then?
The great thing about Dugger is the contrast between the way he sees himself and his behavior. That combination of aw-shucks plain folks condescencion and flat dishonesty is sure to win someone over eventually!
