Yet Another Member Of The Religious Far Right Turns Out To Be A Hypocrite

TedhaggardIn yet another incident that proves that the religious far right is littered with hypocrites and freaks, Ted Haggard now stands accused of an affair with a gay prostitute and using methamphetamine. This proves once again, that as a defacto arm of the Republican party and as a major plank of the conservative movement, the religious far right is a den of iniquity and hate.

UPDATE: Haggard is stepping down, while the right remains very very silent.

Nice to know that on Planet Oliver, an allegation is all it takes to prove one guilty.

Well, unless they had a D by their name.

Also, if the use of the N word by somebody 20 years ago constitutes them as still being a racists, do anti-military comments from somebody back in 1972 mean they are still anti-military today?

“Also, if the use of the N word by somebody 20 years ago constitutes them as still being a racists, do anti-military comments from somebody back in 1972 mean they are still anti-military today?”

No, but calling someone of non-white descent ‘macaca’ and telling him “welcome to America” three months ago does.

  3. Marty says:

    Proves….

    Proves.

(Wow. Is it just me, or did Oliver just call a man who may have lived a double life and may just be gay, a “freak?” I wonder what Jim McGreevey thinks about that. Or John Avarosis. And heck- if this is just about gay prostitutes, then Barney Franks has had a lot of “freaks” in his house, according to Oliver’s logic.

  4. Muzza says:

    Marty,

What’s freaky is someone living a public life that is based, in part, on condemnation of their private life.

  5. factcheck says:

No, a freak is someone who rails against gays and is one. Sort of like an African-American Senatorial candidate from a blue state that fights against initiatives that help African-Americans.

  6. Haggard is an asshole and Jesus is a turd. Fuck them both and I hope all the cons that post here get cancer.

    Have a nice day, swine.

  7. Sundown says:

Well, I think that’s too harsh RedBastardGod. Jesus always gets a tough rap. It’s the crazed followers that are turds.

  8. Rheinhard says:

What is it with these guys? They can’t seem to get off unless they loudly condemn in public what they want to do in private.

Well, my favorite comment on this subject was over at TBogg: “Is it possible to have a schadenfreude orgasm?”

  9. william says:

What have you got against gay protitutes and recreational drug use?

I thought you lefties were all about tolerance?

BTW, the Jesus bashing is especially nice. Bigot.

  10. Oliver says:

Freakish is being part of a movement that actively hates you (see: Republicans, Black)

  11. Oliver says:

Who exactly is bashing Jesus, by the way?

  12. Nimrod Gently says:

RedBastardGod is, not that I’ve ever heard of him before or since, and not that he represents anyone but himself.

    See also: Republicans, Log Cabin.

  13. dr pedro says:

yea right Oliver with black republicans.

Try freakish is reflexively pulling the lever for a political party who claims to be your best friend but never actively helps you (see democrats, black compare poverty levels…)

  14. Jody says:

I’m guessing Pedro has never looked in the upper left corner of your blog, Oliver.

I might also point him to representative Barney Frank’s recent magnificent bit on the Bill Maher show, where he addresses ‘political parties who claim to be your best friend but never actually help you’. Suffice to say it’s not kind to the GOP.

I might link it, but I’m not going to. It’s not like he’d look at it. With a sniff and a snort he’d just start mashing the keys again, going on about how it’s a non-sequitor and how the left are the actual perpetrators of all the evils in society today. Or some similar pap.

In summation, Pedro’s point, is, as usual, laughable.

  15. Rheinhard says:

freakish is reflexively pulling the lever for a political party who claims to be your best friend but never actively helps you

See Republicans, religious right, David Kuo.

  16. Oliver says:

Ironically the two biggest Democratic presidents for civil rights were from Texas and Massachusetts, and the Republican who demonized blacks was from California. Yet somehow us blacks are apparently too dumb to put 2 and 2 together.

  17. midderpidge says:

Pedo, I have actually tried to look for what the Republicans do for African Americans. Other than try to say Democrats don’t do anything for them, I have yet to find anything. Go to the African American Republican Leadership Council site and see for your self.

They have questions like “Ever wonder why only 14% of African Americans vote Republican?” Apparently the answer to that is “Contribute to this site.”

Oh, and a gallery of their great African American Candidates:

    Michael Steele
    Ken Blackwell
    Lynn Swann
    BOB CORKER

    Bob freakin Corker.

  18. While one cannot conclude that this accusation will prove to be true, the man bringing the allegation has been in the Denver and Colorado Springs area for some time. His advertisements for services have appeared in local gay publications for a number of years and it wouldn’t make a lot of sense for him to come forward without sufficient and accurate information to prove his claims. That is simply speculation on my part but it would seem like a huge mistake if his story is a fabrication. My hunch is that the information will bear the coming scrutiny and that the pastor’s secrets are about to be exposed.

If Jesus was to be our example, then I don’t understand this thing we now call Christian values. Pastor Haggard may believe that he speaks for God but his actions suggest that he merely fears his own humanity. Further, if the values he espouses exist to demonstrate his faith in the God he knows, then the God he knows must have already seen this element of his humanity that he cannot personally accept…which would mean that any true God has already accepted that which we humans won’t and would also prove that the God Haggard purports to represent is not a real God but a God of his own creation designed to serve his flawed view of the human condition.

How long before Fox News ‘mistakenly’ reports that Haggard is a member of the Democrat Party?

    Pidge just mentioned: http://www.aarlc.com

What the HELL? Look at the right-hand column. Support our candidate, support our candidate, support our candidate, KEEP THE BLACK GUY OUT OF OFFICE.

  21. GravyPan says:

I must have forgotten my hates pills today.

No, I don’t hate you Oliver.

    I just think you’re a fucking moron.

  22. Nimrod Gently says:

Well that makes all the difference thanks for clearing that up man

  23. kdjid says:

This is what happens when you walk around like your crap don’t stink.
