People know I don’t think much of Karl Rove (lost his first presidential race, won the midterms thanks to inept Democrats, won a squeaker re-election with one of the worst smear campaigns in history) and while I respect the work the GOP’s 72 Hour campaign has done, it surely isn’t magic. It didn’t work in Virginia last year, and frankly the way the GOP talking heads make it sound like the Lone Ranger who will save them at the last minute sounds a lot like Democratic strategists who were sure the youth vote would turn out overwhelmingly for Kerry and that the undecideds would definitely go his way.
Democratic pollster Mark Mellman does some dispelling of the hype.
