Con Quote Of The Day

Responding to news that the homes of Rep. Curt Weldon’s daughter and a close friend have been raided by the FBI, a poster on the conservative Free Republic comments:

“It is now obvious that the FBI is an arm of the Democratic Party. It is almost as if they are attempting to disrupt the ‘06 elections.”

Yes, this is “obvious” to us all…

It never ceases to absolutely amaze me just how divorced from any semblance of reality right-wingers are.

If any fact or truths whatsoever go against their ideology, then it’s OBVIOUSLY a conpspiracy or better yet, the devil’s work. It’s beyond their imagination that a Republican can be doing things that are illegal. It simply cannot be!

    Absolutely amazing.

  2. I guess human nature only applies to humans, Starkey. Republicans see themselves as angels, hence their confusion.

  3. midderpidge says:

Obviously the timing is contrived, except there are only so many FBI agents and there are so many Republicans under investigation for this kind of influence peddling it was probably just her turn in line.

  4. Ian says:

    Classic Odub.

Allow me to go fish through DU or DailyKos for a quote ..

  5. nihilistic_disintegration says:

    Allow me to go fish…

Sure, Ian. You have to dig real hard to find this sort of hare-brained quote from a conservative. Who was it who said that the Foley scandal was created by the Democrats?

    Oh, yeah.

  6. Ian says:

Ah right, just like that woman who said there has been a “vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president.”

Ugh, what was her name and whatever she was complaining about turned out to not be a “vast right-wing conspiracy”.

  7. midderpidge says:

    Krugman for Ian:

“The Boston Globe offered an illuminating comparison: when Bill Clinton was president, the House took 140 hours of sworn testimony into whether Mr. Clinton had used the White House Christmas list to identify possible Democratic donors. But in 2004 and 2005, a House committee took only 12 hours of testimony on the abuses at Abu Ghraib.”

    No conspiracy there.

  8. Ian says:

Really, you liberals are so knitty gritty. I think the point of me pointing out Hillary’s quote was to show that for everytime you point out one side’s stupidity the other side is just as worse.

By the way, using Krugman as you source. It would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

  9. Sundown says:

So, Ian, in order to point to stupidity on the Democratic side, you refer to a quotation from Hillary Clinton that is quite arguably true?

I mean, come on. You’re grasping at straws. And to defend freepers. Don’t see why anyone would want to do that. Don’t you feel embarassed that they’re making Republicans look bad?

  10. Oliver says:

There’s no vast right wing conspiracy, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, The Washington Post editorial, Newt Gingrich, The American Spectator, Richard Melon Scaife and a bunch of right wing blogs say so.

    So it must be true.

  11. Quaker in a Basement says:

Allow me to go fish through DU or DailyKos for a quote ..

    Please do. And don’t hurry.

Then post it on your own blog.

  12. midderpidge says:

If the judges in the Saddam Hussein trial have a verdict now, why are they waiting until Nov. 5 to read it publicly?

  13. Rheinhard says:

Hell, it’s not just the Free Republic wankers suggesting this, it’s Crazy Curt himself! It’s CREW, it’s Bill Clinton, it’s Sandy Berger, it’s Jamie Gorelick, it’s the Gnomes of Zurich and the Illuminati!!

I’m just ashamed that the guy posting this insane conspiracy theory is from my alma mater, as I indicated in the comments there.

  14. z adura says:

Ian, you are lacking the context to understand this, but Krugman is actually pretty centrist. He used to be villified by the left for his views on globalization. Frankly, there are a lot of centrists and centrist Republicans who feel like they’ve been left behind by the current crop of wingers.

  15. Repack Rider says:

Ian, what do you make of the FACT that the GOP congress took more than ten times the testimony on Clinton’s Christmas list as it did Abu Ghraib?

Did Clinton’s Christmas list kill anyone?

  16. PD100 says:

right, just like that woman who said there has been a “vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president.”

    There was one.

Shouldn’t you be busy with some RNC salad-tossing over at Hot Air, Ian?

  17. StarkyLuv says:

Ian, you do realize you’re proving my point FOR me, right?

Oh, and there actually WAS and IS a vast right-wing conspiracy against the Clintons. How could that possibly be denied?

I mean, he was impeached over a BLOWJOB while those same people that impeached him are in lock-step with Bush and his many crimes against the Constitution and humanity in general.

    HELLO!

  18. tomboyms says:

    Ummm…Oliver?

“you would have put down your food and cried to mommy.”

Why oh why do you put up with that little twerp?

  19. MJB says:

    Ian,
Welcome to the Duggwhore and Dr. Pedro school of the serially underinformed. If you don’t see how there was an actual conspiracy that went all the way to the top of the Repub power structure during the Clinton admin, then you should get to the reading. OW has recommended books on the subject numerous times.
And it would be interesting to hear from you just exactly why Krugman is not a centrist.

  20. frameone says:

“Really, you liberals are so knitty gritty.”

Oh that hilarious. You liberals are so obsessed with details and context and facts. Geez, get over it.

  21. Quaker in a Basement says:

How are your grades in English, Ian?

    I can recommend a tutor.

  22. nihilistic_disintegration says:

I think Knitty Gritty is when you learn your knitting skills on the street, in the rough part of town, and you knit stuff like brass knuckles and gang tattoos.

  23. buma says:

Obviously the freeper poster was a troll. Had he been legitimate he would have used the term “Democrat Party.”
