Your Tax Dollars At Work

Man, it’s one thing when they use the White House spin operations to push back against the media, but is this really an appropriate use or language for the Department of Defense?

The assertion that the Iraq invasion “diverted” resources from
Afghanistan is a talking point of critics of the Bush administration.
It is an opinion, not a fact.

"A talking point of critics of the Bush administration"? That sounds like an RNC press release, not a professional non-partisan response from a branch of the U.S. government. It makes me think they’ve got some Republican stooge in their like with the flunky who was editing climate science reports for the White House.

If the Dems win the House, God-willing, the investigation and oversight (for a change) of these people is going to be delicious.

What’s going to be delicious is the look on the democrats faces when they realize they have the reigns of power and have no idea what to do with it…it will be the return of the “kids soccer game”….everyone knows they have a position, but they will still just run around and chase the ball. It will be one leftist after anoter trying to one up each other in “oversight”, spending all their time looking backwards, so nothing gets done (not that, admittedly, THIS congress has been burning up the legislative field though…!)

The best part is, the republicans will have plausible deniability for ‘08 and can blame the D’s…

  2. I can never tell whether the trolls around here spout nonsense because they’re trolling, or because it’s what they actually believe. I guess there’s no way to tell, really.

It sounds to me like DOD is talking as a third party – independent of Newsweek and independent of the Bush Admin (hence Bush Admin instead of ‘us”). I take it you don’t object to DOD trying to set the public record straight – its merely the wording you don’t like.

  4. Well, there are laws against federal agencies getting politically involved on behalf of any given administration, regardless of whether you characterize it as merely setting the record straight — and this is by no means the first instance. If we get the House, rest assured that this practice — just another example of absolute control over Washington’s lever’s of power corrupting the wielder — it will be rooted out and exposed.

    Competition. It’s a good thing.

Nope. I object to the DoD putting out propaganda with no basis in reality, and using taxpayer dollars to do it.

To clarify, you’re celebrating that the Democrats are future POTENTIAL fuck ups while the Republicans are CURRENTLY fucking up?

I recall how once the big discussion was which WH phone VP Gore used to make a call.

Pedro:What’s going to be delicious is… blah blah blah.

Here’s the full analogy. The Dems will be the kids’ soccer team as Pedro described. The Repugs are the high-school kids in hoodies wandering through the crowd stealing our wallets and sodomizing us with broom handles.

Which team will you root for?
