Oliver, you have to get over that much of the GOP is no fan of Santorum.

  2. BD says:

How does one get to be the No. 3 Republican in the Senate if much of the GOP dislikes you?

Ian’s comment points to a larger right-wing narrative that we’re going to be seeing more of in the run-up to, and aftermath of, the November 7 election. Namely, building the narrative that all the Republican House and Senate members that lose elections did so because they really weren’t very strong GOP members, or weren’t conservative enough.

You see, “Conservatism” can never be wrong. Bush has implemented or tried to implement every major conservative policy and it has been a disaster. But does this show the policies are wrong? No. It hasn’t worked because Bush isn’t conservative enough. Conservatism is never wrong, therefore, ipso facto, that which is wrong or failing cannot be conservative. And so George Bush, Bob Ney, Jack Abramoff, Ralph Reed, Duke Cunningham, Mark Foley, Catherine Harris, et al., are just not real conservatives that the GOP is no real “fan of”.

Just watch it happen over the next few weeks, as if by magic!

Astutely observed Rheinhard, yet its also fascinating how they try to apply the exact opposite principal to what they see in the Democratic Party with regards to Lieberman. Ian’s pretense is that its acceptable for him as a conservative to not be a fan of conservative senator Santorum, and yet how DARE the liberals not take a liking to “liberal” senator Lieberman? The Audacity! The Unmitigated GALL I say!!!!1!
Not that this double standard is a bad thing of course. As a newly dyed in the wool Dugger-Conservative myself, I have to find that anything the conservative power structure does to try and maintain power or, failing that, face in the upcoming election to be the right thing to do, and should any of those actions mirror what liberals are doing, then it is only bad when they do it.

  5. Ian says:

BD, no Republican voter likes any Republicans.

Rheinhard, so you’re mommy is letting you use the computer again?

There is human life outside of your mom’s basement. Seriously, you liberals look way too much into things. I like how i’m labeled as “right-wing” yet I have not expressed my opinions once?

just because i’m not liberal — and don’t like them too much — doesn’t mean I’m a conservative.

Get off the internet, you dope.
