Republican Pedophile Scandal: Threats and Resignations

The page in the middle of the scandal is getting death threats – probably from deranged right-wingers, like the folks who sent letters claiming to contain hazardous chemicals to the NY Times and Keith Olbermann.

Kirk Fordham, part of Tom Reynolds’ staff who apparently tried to squelch the page story – has resigned. How many more to follow?

  1. So many rumors flying around. Will the next shoe to drop be a Democrat’s? Hard to imagine the GOP covering for them, though. Another Republican, perhaps? George Allen again? Rick Santorum? Hastert was a so-called “wrestling coach,” wasn’t he? I’m on the edge of my seat…

  2. Marty says:

The next shoe to drop? How about the DCCC knowing about the more explicit IM’s (as opposed to the seemingly innocuous emails) almost as long as ABC News (over five months) and Democrats sat on it for political considerations rather than protecting “the children.” That will be a good one. (FYI- Some of your guys have been bragging just a little too much.)

By the way, Oliver- can you explain the “pedophile” label you’ve been using. Scumbag? Absolutely! Idiot? Sure.

But pedophile? Perhaps you’re confused. Unless of course you think your boy pardoned a convicted “pedophile.” (You know who Mel Reynolds is, don’t you?)

Unless you think that Democrats elected another “pedophile” 5 times after he was caught having sex with his male pages.

Or was that just consensual sex that nobody should have had any problem with?

  3. saybert says:

Oh wait! I forgot. Demogoguery is your strong suit. Well- you are pretty good at that.

I would have hidden that test for “The Truth” though. I thought it was a mistake until I actually saw it on your site. Talk about comedy!

  4. midderpidge says:

Nice try Marty. Too bad for you it is the REPUBLICAN Pedophile Scandal. Instead of being the act of an individual representative who happens to be a Republican, Hastert and friends painted the stink on the whole party.

  5. Marty says:

Oops- I guess I’ll have to have this thing remember my info…

Marty and saybert are one and the same. (Wouldn’t want to be accused of sock-puppetry.)

And Oliver- did you read that entire story you linked? Sounds like Hassert was telling “The Truth.”

  6. factcheck says:

Don’t worry Marty, OBL is in post-production for his pre-election “scare the country into voting for cons” tape for 2006. You won’t have to hear about Republican Mark Foley much longer.

  7. Marty says:

Don’t worry pidge- it’s going to get real ugly for both parties in 3…2…1…

Now what reason do you think the DCCC would sit on something like this for five months, and then have all the press releases ready immediately after scandal breaks? Hmmmm. (Note- this isn’t even a “tin foil” theory. One of “your guys” has been writing about it. I’ve just been reading it from him.

  8. midderpidge says:

Forham: Boss, about those e-mails, maybe you should abandon your ethical, moral and leadership responsibilities and just bury this. Please?

    Hastert: unthinkable!

    Fordham: Pretty please?

Hastert: You make a sound argument! Get me a shovel!

  9. midderpidge says:

Gosh Marty, I believe the news will be that Hastert did take action. He had a meeting with Karl Rove, Condi Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, and (the big one) George W Bush. I believe they expressed concerns that letting this come to light would damage the war effort. I think the Bush money quote was: “I’ll kidnap a thousand children before I let this company die and I’ll silence anyone who gets in my way!”

Oh wait, that must be fantasy pretty much like your DCCC babble.

  10. Rex Mundane says:

Marty, why indeed wouldnt they have brought it up a few months ago if they knew? Seems to me the smarter thing to do while bush’s approval was down would be to start this ball rolling so that by the time of the election theres a large scale investigation into how this happened and who was involved in covering it up, putting the safety of republican congressmen over that of minors. But even presuming that were the case (and I’m presuming not) are you trying to suggest that the democrats addressing this issue only after Republicans expose it to ABC somehow exonerates all republicans of wrongdoing in this regard? Or are you just hoping to pass some of the blame on in the hopes of making the party look good during, you know, this whole 51-year-old-having-sex-with-16-year-olds thing?
Incidentally, Ive heard you mention this DCCC thing twice now but I havent heard of it elsewhere, could you lint to something so I know youre not completely full of your own crap?

  11. factcheck says:

Gee Marty, maybe you have a point there. In the future when the next con is caught TRYING TO MOLEST YOUNG BOYS maybe the Dems can run right to the press ok?

    Then again you’re an idiot.

  12. Got a cite, Marty? A link, maybe?

  13. factcheck says:

Marty must be listening to the 3 time divorced drug addict. He found a way to blame it on Clinton because a Clinton aide had heard that Foley was gay and therefore it’s all Clinton’s fault because he held it for the next election after 1995 which of course is 2006.

Never underestimate the diabolical power of the Clenis.

  14. Marty says:

Here’s one site- that will be a good start for you.

    http://www.blogactive.com/2006/10/good-news-bad-news.html

After you read that one- why would the DCCC be sanitizing their comments section of this guy?

  15. factcheck says:

Help me here Marty, what am I looking at? What is it supposed to prove?

  16. midderpidge says:

    Wow, Marty, you’ve convinced me.

“I had the emails before they were on the net. Additionally, I had the additional emails, written by the page to a friend. The story was being written by a number of outlets and I provided additional information to reporters involved in the breaking of this story.”

    Dumbass.

  17. I’ve actually been to that guy’s site before (definitely not one of “your guys” as Marty asserts). His schtick is to out closeted gay Republicans. I didn’t see anything even mentioning that A) the DCCC or DNC or whatever knew about Foley’s page issue for 5 months; or B) that ABC News knew about the explicit emails for 5 months. As I understand it, ABC News found out about the questionable emails last week, and within a day had tracked down the explicit ones. Care to back up your claims, Marty?

  18. factcheck says:

Marty’s like that crazy person who comes up to you with a potato chip and claims that it proves the existance of God.

  19. Meanwhile, here’s a real cite:

“CNN breaking news: Kirk Fordham, a former aide to ex-Rep. Mark Foley, said he alerted the office of the Republican leader of the House of Representatives two years ago about worrisome conduct by Foley with teenage pages, AP reports.”

  20. Marty, it was the guy on the grassy knoll. Clearly. The trilateral commission and the Bilderbergs had a hand in it too.

  21. Rex Mundane says:

Oh my god I see it clearly now… The Rand Corporation… in conjunction with the saucer people… under the supervision of the reverse vampires… are forcing our parents to go to bed early in a fiendish plot to eliminate the meal of dinner!
We’re through the looking glass, here, people…

  22. frameone says:

Marty got his marching orders from Hannity today. Brilliant come back guys.

  23. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Marty, translated:

“Yes, the Republicans have been covering for a creepy old pervert who stalks teenaged boys. It’s the Democrats fault for not stopping us sooner!”

  24. factcheck says:

Wait a minute, marty was sending us a coded message! The large Washington Monument on blog active represents a penis! Penis, Washington, help me here guys! He may be in danger from the mighty Clenis’s death squads and needs us to find the code before it self destructs!

  25. Duros62 says:

I will say this; Pedophile might be the wrong word, or at least the wrong use of the word. Much like the priests in the church scandal, perhaps the term pederast would be more accurate.
Not better, it’s still a gross miscarriage of power, but more accurate.
    My 2ยข.

  26. Eric says:

So the argument from Mary et al is the Republican leadership is so out of touch that they had no idea what Foley was doing but that the Democrats are so in the know that they found out about it but sat on the info?

Yeah that’s a ringing endorsement for why to keep electing the Reps:-)

Face it when your spin is indistinguishable from a Parody the Daily Show ran Monday night you are cooked.

  27. Dr. Squid says:

Well, if the threats are conservative threats, conservative Jay will say they’re A-OK, and by the way has Jay told you lately that he’s a conservative?

    (conservative count: 3)
