If you don’t watch My Name Is Earl, you’re missing one of the great comedies on tv right now. One of the main characters, Joy (played by the gorgeous Jaime Pressly) has a very down to earth trailer park way of looking at the world. It’s a blunt form of speech that I think would talk to the Democrats like this:
“Look, dummies. Y’all got an unpopular president, a war goin’ as bad as hell and a dirty old man diddling boys. If you can’t win against that, you don’t deserve to win a damn thing.”
Sex scandal, Iraq book take toll on Bush, GOP
After what they have seen and heard over the past few weeks — events including the news of a Republican congressman’s improper correspondence with a teenage page and the recent release of journalist Bob Woodward’s unfavorable portrayal of the Bush administration’s handling of Iraq – respondents to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, by more than a 2-to-1 ratio, say they have a less favorable impression of the Republicans maintaining control of Congress.

The ‘stay the course’ mantra is looking like a real PLAN now. Talk about underestimating the intelligence of the American voter.
Earl is a real surprise: a comedy largely about class difference that’s both funny and very sweet-natured. And yeah, Jamie Pressly is stunning. Makes it all the funnier that she looks harder than pickled eggs on the show. She gets the best lines, too, as when she was watching her gigantic flat screen TV out in the yard: “There’s too much glare! I can’t tell if I’m watching the black lady judge or the white lady judge.”
“It’s a crime of principle. Like when Rosa Parks stole that bus.”
When Joy said that, I laughed out loud. The Office is pretty great, too, now that it’s sufficiently different from the Gervais version. Probably the best comedies on network TV, now that Arrested Development’s off the air.
