Republican Pedophile Scandal: Religious Far Right Gives See-Nothing Congress A Free Pass

James Dobson of Focus on the Family simply blames society’s “oversexualization”.

Tony Perkins of Family Research Council assures us that “Pro-Homosexual Political Correctness” is to blame for letting a man interested in sex with boys stay in the House of Reps.

And people wonder why I call the religious far right’s followers “rubes”.

The hypocracy stinks to high heavens. If they excuse this behavior… I don’t like saying it but they have special place in hell along with rapists and predators they defend.

  2. Repack Rider says:

Wow, O-Dub, you have shut the trolls up completely.

Apparently the talking points on Mark Foley are still in the process of being run past the focus group.

  3. frameone says:

You haven’t heard anything yet. In the wake of the tragedy at the Amish school, dipshit Hugh Hewitt wonders: “What has poisoned the minds of these people so deeply as to set off such awful scenes?”

    Right on
    cue
his idiot followers blame pacifism, Darwin, the ACLU, “Modern education,” the media, the lack of “legal prayer,” and the Supreme Court. Idiots.

The religious right hitched their wagons to this star long ago. Where it goes they are going and I am pleased to report that at this moment that destination sees to be the pits of hell.

Note to Satan, I like my hypocritical bigots well-done.

  5. The best political news of the effin’ year! You know what this means?

    It’s all Society’s fault!

Poor Foley, he got into bad surroundings. He needs sympathy and therapy. You mean-minded people who think a person is responsible for what he does just don’t understand.

Of course, the trolls will now return and ask with great condecension why we bleeding hearts say that kind of thing about people grow up in poverty and abuse, but aren’t willing to cut the same slack for a child of privilege holding a high trust (which he sought) from the United States. But maybe it won’t be too hard to answer that.

    Another manifestation of IOKIYAR.

  7. Big D says:

Yes, our republican leaders, so PC they refuse to hurt anyone’s feelings.

  8. midderpidge says:

Oliver kindly use Molestergate instead of Pedophile. Otherwise people like Jay will try to bog down the discussion about the definition of pedophilia.

  9. Duros62 says:

So now Foley’s a victim? Wow. Whatever happened to the culture of personal responsibility that the right was so hot about last year?
And now Foley is in rehab for “alcoholism and other behavior problems.” Perhaps they are gonna smack the gay right off of him.

  10. Duros62 says:

    Pagegate?
    IMgate?
    creepy-old-guygate?

  11. Rounds77 says:

“Pro-homosexual political correctness”? From Republicans? Why does homosexuality have anything to do with this? When a straight man stalks an underage girl, do we ever hear a word about his straightness?

  12. LMMatthews says:

The reasons why we’re hearing about the homosexuality in conjuction with pedophilia are 1. the GOP is the party of “we hate gays” (though apparently it didn’t occur to them that one of their supposedly stalwart members was gay, and when it did for the good of the party they closetted the guy even more than he already was) and 2. most people in the GOP are so insipid that they do not realize the difference between homosexuality and pedophilia – they automatically assume that since they believe both are wrong that they are somehow linked, which is of course completely false. Interestingly, I’ve found that at least where I live when there is a pedophilia case it is usually a man molesting a little girl, which for reasons I can’t possibly comprehend somehow isn’t viewed as nearly as damaging as a man molesting a boy. And forget female offenders – they get no more than a slap on the wrist. It’s a ridiculous double standard that the media feeds on because “child molestor” coupled with “gay” puts together two hot button issues that grab people’s attention moreso than “straight” and “child molestor”.
Gay in no way equals pedophile. Pedophile equals pedophile. The GOP doesn’t get that. Of course, this is the party that also has said in the past that they oppose gay marriage because it will lead to people marrying their pets.
And they charge the Dems with blowing stuff out of proportion.
