He’s not funny and he’s a phony. Bill Simmons of ESPN said that when he was working for Jimmy Kimmel, they were taping some kind of thing in studio. Dane Cook was there and somebody cracked a fart. Cook, who now thinks such things are hilarious got all bent out of shape, bitching and moaning about it.
Mediocre, but the hype around this guy is ridiculous, so it makes him look worse than he is. Not in the same league as Patton Oswalt, David Cross, Zach Galifianakis, or Sarah Silverman. Plus he stole jokes from Louis CK, apparently.
His first Comedy Central special was great, but it has been a downward spiral since.
I wasn’t really familiar with the guy, but I watched part of an HBO special on Saturday night with some friends and I thought the same thing. This guy is not funny. His constant walking around the stage is really annoying, too.
I haven’t seen him in any films, but I think his stand-up is hilarious.
I’m not sure if I’m supposed to give an explanation as to why or not, but all that really matters is that he makes a lot of people laugh. That alone makes a good comedian.
He was good in Waiting… but that was because he was only in a few scenes that were short. Even the 15-minute routine he did for Just For Laughs felt too long. As for his ability to carry a movie, don’t count on it.
You’re not old. And he’s not funny.
A guy getting hit in the crotch by a large red whiffle bat makes a lot of people laugh. It doesn’t make the guy a good comedian.
Are all his bits funny? Of course not. But some of them are fall-down hilarious.
We’ve been fans in our house ever since his awesome performance in Mystery Men.
Just the same, I’m thinking he’s moving so fast he’ll end up the next Jim Varney…thekeez
I dunno, but I find him funny.
I must be even older. Who’s Dane Cook?
Who is Dane Cook? I’m sure I should know who he his, but I’m always looking for the best animal actors in town at Amazing Animal Productions.
He was in Mystery Men? One of my faves.
“Listen, do you smell that?”
Dane Cook is medium amusing. maybe 3 or 4 chuckles out of ten jokes. His popularity is somehow correlated to his web presence, somehow. (Read that in Wired.)
Yes, you’re old, as am I, and no, he is not funny, at least to a thinking person, but I believe that high school types find him hilarious. He wasn’t even funny on SNL, which seems to be in a major slump. Talk about not funny!
Definitely unfunny. I’ve been watching the TV lately and wondering just who the hell this guy is that they are pumping at me.
You can just feel the board room behind the hype on this guy.
He’s almost as funny as Dennis Miller.
