Republican Pedophile Scandal: Tom Reynolds Got Paid Off?

2:12 pm EST October 1st, 2006 | Republicans | 3 Comments

TomreynoldsThe New York Dems have an idea about why Republican Rep. Tom Reynolds (and head of the NRCC) kept his mouth shut about pedophile Mark Foley:

During the same period Rep. Tom Reynolds was keeping Mark Foley’s
inappropriate emails with minors secret, his campaign committee coffers
received a $100,000 donation from Foley, it was revealed today.
Reynolds has come under fire for knowing about the inappropriate emails
for many months and covering it up to protect his colleague who has
since been forced to resign.

“Parents and voters throughout America are worried and sickened by the
fact that Mr. Reynolds knew about these inappropriate emails from a
colleague to a minor — and then swept them under the carpet,”
Democratic spokesman Blake Zeff said today. “It now appears Mr.
Reynolds had a hundred thousand reasons for his cover-up.”

Let me save all the righties the trouble:

    1) He’s not a pedophile dammit, he was just making unwanted passes at a teenager who was away from his parents.

    2) Well, you don’t actually know what his intent was when he sent those emails about penises, so it’s not fair to accuse him of anything at all.

    3) But what about that Democrat who left office more than 10 years ago?

There. You people don’t have to post your predictable nonsense. The rest of you can go about your business.

    You’re welcome.

Dear Quaker: If you had actually read what the conservative blogs have been saying, you’ll find that everyone is trashing Mr Foley. No one has said he wasn’t a pervert, and no one has said that his e-mails were somehow less serious than they were.

But, yes, some of us have mentioned the hypocrisy of the Democrats, who did not expel Gary Studds, and the Democratic voters who kept reelecting a man who didn’t send explicit e-mails but was actually sodomizing a 17 year old boy.

    There’s one for #3.

    Anyone else?

Dear Dana, some of you–*cough*REDSTATE*cough*–are cooking up conspiracy scenarios in which ABC news, influenced by the Democratic leadership, sat on the story until just before the election.

Why? Just because they’re the MSM and they MUST be in league with the Democrats because they reported news unfavorable to a Republican.

Meanwhile, your party’s leadership are all rolling their eyes and shrugging, saying “Who me? Didn’t know a thing! Hardly knew the guy.”

    You must be so proud.
