Stay And Die Unpopular President Smears Dems

4:13 pm EST September 28th, 2006 | News | 4 Comments

The Republican party is a vile, excrement filled excuse of a party.

“The party of FDR and the party of Harry Truman has become the party of cut and run,” Bush said at a Birmingham, Alabama, fundraiser for Gov. Bob Riley.

Under George Bush, more Americans have died via terrorism than any other president in American history – and even more dead because of his lying us into a war in Iraq and failing to plan in any sane way for that war. He’s got some damn nerve.

UPDATE: Rep. Pelosi strongly slapped back at similar comments from earlier in the day by waste of flesh Dennis Hastert, but where is the Dem response to Bush???

FINALLY: And it’s written, versus on TV. Come on, Dems – this isn’t that hard. It’s not that complex!!!

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid issued the following statement on comments today by President Bush. A fact sheet on President Bush’s failed Iraq strategy is below.

“If George Bush is so confident that his national security policies are working, he should release the entire National Intelligence Estimate on terrorism and let the American people decide for themselves. The fact that he won’t speaks volumes about how the failure of his policies has made the American people less safe.

“George Bush has no credibility left on national security. No matter how many stump speeches he gives on the campaign trail, the American people can see the damage his tough talk has done to America’s safety. It’s time to be tough and smart so we can change course and give Americans the real security they deserve.”

The Allen campaign releases a new ad today that will probably bite McCain in the butt come 2008. “Senator McCain, when you endorsed Senator Allen — do you also endorse terrorizing black families and using the word ‘nigger’ as a racial epithet?”

The Pentagon’s Papers

2:29 pm EST September 28th, 2006 | Terrorism | Comments Off

Actual journalism from Newsweek.

But the actual wording of the NIE contains sobering conclusions that, in tone and substance, are very different from what Bush and other administration officials have recently been saying about the government’s progress in the war on terror. Even more potentially problematic for the White House, intelligence-community officials say, there are at least two more secret studies underway that are likely to undercut the administration’s public positions on sensitive national-security issues.

When Will We Get This Generation’s Pentagon Papers?

From 60 Minutes

Veteran Washington reporter Bob Woodward tells Mike Wallace that the Bush administration has not told the truth regarding the level of violence, especially against U.S. troops, in Iraq. He also reveals key intelligence that predicts the insurgency will grow worse next year.

In Wallace’s interview with Woodward, to be broadcast on 60 Minutes this Sunday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. ET/PT, the reporter also claims that Henry Kissenger is among those advising Mr. Bush.

According to Woodward, insurgent attacks against coalition troops occur, on average, every 15 minutes, a shocking fact the administration has kept secret. "It’s getting to the point now where there are eight-, nine-hundred attacks a week. That’s more than 100 a day. That is four an hour attacking our forces," says Woodward.

Black Dems Show Black Republicans How Its Done

1:43 am EST September 28th, 2006 | Uncategorized | 4 Comments

It may seem like Democrats should automatically win the governorship in Massachusetts, but in fact since Michael Dukakis left office in 1991, the Bay State has had 4 straight Republican governors. Deval Patrick seems strongly poised to change that script.

A new Boston TV poll released yesterday afternoon showed Democrat Deval Patrick leading the gubernatorial pack with a 39 point lead over Republican Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey.

In the survey of 608 likely voters, 64 percent said they would vote for Patrick; 25 percent vouched for Healey; 5 percent supported Independent Christy Mihos and only 1 percent stood by Green-Rainbow Party candidate Grace Ross.

FoxLash: Roger Ailes Discovers Journalism All Of A Sudden

9:05 pm EST September 27th, 2006 | Media | 33 Comments

Fox News wouldn’t know journalism if it bit them in the collective rear, but Bill Clinton pushes back against their propaganda for two seconds — and they howl like stuck pigs.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes says former President Clinton’s
response to Chris Wallace’s question about going after Osama bin Laden
represents ‘an assault on all journalists.

Fox News is an assault on journalism, and in concert with the Republican party it has represented a sea change in journalism to Pravda-style boosterism of one political and social movement over another without regard to anything remotely resembling facts. I’m even happier now that President Clinton pushed back, because it takes someone at his level to bring some notice to this ongoing problem. Perhaps now Democrats will stop acting like nervous nellies because Rove/Fox may say bad things about them and instead embrace the FoxLash and push back.

Right Wing Targets Keith Olbermann

2:16 pm EST September 27th, 2006 | News | 72 Comments

The crazies are at it again, first it was the NY Times – now it’s Olbermann

The acerbic host of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” was terrified when he opened a suspicious-looking letter with a California postmark and a batch of white powder poured out. A note inside warned Olbermann, who’s a frequent critic of President Bush’s policies, that it was payback for some of his on-air shtick.

The powder turned out to be a dud, but that doesn’t change much. The right-wing in America has once again chosen to try and silence that which they disagree with.

UPDATE: Conservative Ed Morrisey of Captain’s Quarters is at least pissed at the flippant way the NY Post is covering this story, as is Hugh Hewitt — but Malkin cohort Brian Maloney can’t restrain himself and supports the Post’s characterization of the event. The right wingers cannot help it, can’t control it.

A Con Sees The Light!

3:08 am EST September 27th, 2006 | News | 9 Comments

Matt Margolis, creator/owner of BlogsForBush and GOPBloggers asks for bipartisanship

It’s a sad situation when our nation’s intelligence becomes a political weapon. We no longer live in the days where a common enemy breaks down party lines and ushers in a resolved sense of unity where the goal is to win at all costs.

Great, awesome, let us join… oh, wait. This is a conservative writing here. Which means its got to get really stupid in 4… 3… 2… 1…

Democrats have systematically built that wall up with the bricks of partisanship, and painted it with the blood of our soldiers.

That’s right folks, the Republican party that runs the country, cooked the books on pre-war intelligence, refused to form the Dept. of Homeland Security, refused to make any plan for Iraq leading to chaos, and who has smeared any Democrat who has suggested that maybe they don’t have a clue – is absolved!

Matt Margolis, the CULTIST OF THE DAY, opens our eyes to the Glory Of Dear Leader and shows us that while Republicans control everything in DC nowadays and are responsible for the unprecedented partisan atmosphere that colors both domestic and foreign policy — somehow all the bad stuff is the failure of those darn Democrats!

Take a swig from the cup, Margolis, you’ve earned it! Now grab your shroud and your Nikes.
