The political twisting of science continues.
The Bush administration has blocked release of a report that suggests global warming is contributing to the frequency and strength of hurricanes, the journal Nature reported Tuesday.
The possibility that warming conditions may cause storms to become stronger has generated debate among climate and weather experts, particularly in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
If that’s the case, then we must have solved Global Warming. The Atlantic has been awfully quiet this year.
OW…
I read recently, that NASA experts are now saying that reported climate temperatures are very close the warmest in one million years.
This is no “crackpot” journal. This is being published in one of the most prestigous journals in the world…the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Of course, this is the same guy (Hansen) that the Bush administration is out to discredit.
There is COMPELLING EVIDENCE that we’re starting to witness changes not only in our climate, but changes by species in response to climate change.
“The researchers recalled that a study published in 2003 by the British science journal Nature shows that 1,700 varieties of plants and animal and insect species had migrated toward the North Pole at an average 6.0 kilometers (3.7 miles) per decade in the second half of the 20th century.”
OK…so…people like Dugger aren’t particulary smart. They’re not forward thinking. Put them aside in a box. Where they belong, and will always belong. Evolution gave them a pass on the smart stick.
What’s the smart thing to do?
Uh..gee…how about erring on the side of caution?
Is the most pressing problem in the U.S. illegal immigration? No.

Sorry Dugger. That was an unprovoked, gratuitous slam.
Or, a preemptive strike.
JK
When Dems regain a majority in the House, I want item #1 to be an investigation into war profiteering in Iraq.
Item #2 should be the investigation of the corruption of our public information by the legions of hack Bush political appointees at most of our science and policy agencies: NASA, FDA, OSHA, CDC, etc., etc…
JK. No problem. I regard you as a lightweight, immature hater. I see mommy bought another computer.
BTW. Are progressives starting up the specious ‘frequency of hurricanes ‘ issue? All fine for you superstittious types to dance around the camp fire with your hate-Bush and extremist enviro crap chants, but even most wacky environmentalists have discounted the frequency argument.
Reinhard
Don’t forget HUD and the Dept. of Education.
The obvious point to make here is that if the facts back up Bush’s theories about global warming, why does he care if this report is released. The only logical answer is that the facts do not back Bush’s theories up, and quashing the truth is the only option.
