Yeah, I guess they should say that if you, like Oliver, assume that the Maryland electorate is so incredibly stupid they don’t know what party each candidate is with.

The point of calling people “Reagan Democrats” or “Steele Democrats” is to point out that their appeal crosses party lines.

Calling oneself a “Steele Republican” is kind of redundant.

The chair of the Utah Republican Party is a black man, James Evans. He’s as rabid a Bush-licker as you could want; when he was in the Utah state senate, representing the poorer West side of Salt Lake City, he made it his personal cursade to insult and hurt Salt Lake City’s liberal mayor, Rocky Anderson, at every turn, even withholding state funds for transportation in SLC unless Anderson backed down on something, I forget what. Evans lost his senate seat to a white (i.e. Mormon) republican, but became head of the state party. Recently when Bush came to SLC, Mayor Anderson made a passionate speech at the anti-Bush rally he organized and among other things said that “slavish devotion to a man or a party is not patriotism.” Evans jumped on that, saying that Rocky was being racist for using that term. The funny thing is that Evans makes his living as owner of a number of payday loan places, that charge up to and over 100% interest on loans to the poor. Talk about slavery!

You must seriously think Maryland voters are the dumbest people on the face of the earth.

Using your logic, I guess when i had that “Republicans for Rendell” sign in my condo window during the 2002 election, I was trying to trick people into thinking he was a Republican, rather than simply saying I supported him despite being in the other party.
