Oh please. Many of the same people who are saying that party comes before skin color sang a different tune 4 years ago when Lisa Gladden ran against Barbara Hoffman for State Senator. Not everyone was as open as the late Howard “Pete” Rawlings, but Gladden accepted plenty of support of those saying only a black person should represent a black district.
