Note To Future Democratic Administrations

Under the leadership of President Clinton, President Edwards, President Clark, President Obama or whoever – remember that the precedent has been set to use the White House shop to issue blatantly partisan press releases at taxpayer expense. Remember, President Bush did it — so it’s okay now.

You forget the first corrolary to IOKIYAR, which is IDIYAD (it’s different if you’re a Democrat).

  2. factcheck says:

    The second corrolary is HSWDPTO

History Starts when a Democratic President takes office, which is why January 21, 2009, cons will be calling for President Gore’s head because he hasn’t caught OBL yet.

  3. Jay says:

Yes because we know this precedent wasn’t already set with you-know-who in office because he would never ever ever issue partisan press releases.

  4. factcheck says:

Explain to me how a press release calling on the Congress to move on law is partisan.

On the other hand, “Bush’s foreign policy is succeeding” is a partisan talking points memo.

Or are you being stupid on purpose, crazy jay?

  5. midderpidge says:

I don’t have a problem with this. I would agree with Jay. If the White House wants to run a website to promote it’s occupant’s views. Fine. It’s not like they are hiring reporters to write articles supportive of their policies.

Granted I don’t agree with most of what they have posted and think much of it is divorced from reality, but that again is the position of the occupant of the White House.

  6. Jay says:

Factcheck being his typical drone self.

Because a drone (and a dumb one at that) would see a White House press release saying the GOP led Congress is going to be responsible for more child deaths as the result of gun violence, reducing the amount of teachers, dirtying the environment and hurting law enforcement as non-partisan.

  7. “the GOP led Congress is going to be responsible for more child deaths as the result of gun violence, reducing the amount of teachers, dirtying the environment and hurting law enforcement as non-partisan.”

Not at all. Since the GOP controls 2 and almost 3 branches of government, it’s time to quit talking about personal responsibility and actually BE personally responsible.

Oh I forgot, responsibility is for the Left to be accountable for.

Cons are fucking worthless parasitic scum.

  8. Jay says:

I see that another dimwit has joined the fray. If you were paying attention Bastard instead of mentally masturbating, you’d see we were discussing a White House Press release from 2000 that FactDrone claims is not partisan.

  9. Hollywood_Freaks says:

    RedBastardGod:

I have huge problems with this administration; I have huge problems with Democratic “solutions.” I’m personally not offended by this because it isn’t directed at me, but seriously sir, how does saying “Cons are fucking worthless parasitic scum” help your cause?

That may have worked on the playground, but it won’t here in grown-up land where the majority of us seek understanding before seeking to be understood.

If you want to get yourself off, there’s plenty of porn on the internet for that.

  10. frameone says:

“That may have worked on the playground, but it won’t here in grown-up land …”

    You mean this grown-up land:

“This week, House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Democrats “are more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people.”

Boehner pretty much counts as fucking worthless parasitic scum in my book. Do you understand?

  11. midderpidge says:

Oliver can’t possibly know what Bush’s intentions are. He is only against it because of his extreme Bush Hatred because he can’t know what Bush’s intentions are because he hates Bush!

    I CLAIM VICTORY…for Dugger!

  12. Bushwhacked says:

    frame,
I cant say as I know what dear leader’s intentions are but I have a different take on all of the speechifying, editorials and press releases by both sides. I think this is phony dispute that will be used to separate House and Senate Republicans from the Bush administration, Bush in particular to take some of the edge off their disapproval, while they are portraying democrats as “cut and run” on the “war on terror” (ie Iraq) or just having no solution. It appears to be working according to the polls right now but I dont think it’s going to last. Unless the democrats figure out a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, like not challenging the republicans’ spin, this will not be enough. They need to press even harder on the issues of abuse of power, and mismanagement of the war on terror.

  13. Don Myers says:

The problem is not that the Bush regime press releases are highly-biased, because ALL press releases are biased(I speak as someone who writes press releases for a living).

The problem is that the corporate press dutifully prints said press released almost verbatim as ‘news.’

  14. Dugger says:

This thread needs to end. I have won it – per midder.

Now all of you – move along.
