Taliban-Pakistan Axis

For years since 9/11 we have known that its quite likely that Osama Bin Laden is in Pakistan after President Bush allowed him to escape at Tora Bora in order to invade Iraq. I have no idea why we continue to allow Pakistan to shield Bin Laden, and understand it even less so now that Pakistan has signed a deal with the Taliban.

There’s this idea out there, mostly held by cons, that there is a great big smart ass strategy behind all of this. The facts would indicate the “strategy” is whatever b.s. they can peddle on any given day to a lapdog media and limp Democrats.

    Jay, Save Ferris or Dugger,

    We desperately need the talking points on why it’s a good idea for Pakistan to appease OBL.

    Hurry. It’s making Bush look like an idiot.

    Be patient, Repack, Limbaugh doesn’t start for another 45 minutes. I’m sure they will be able to comment then.

  3. Nimrod Gently says:

    The Taliban? Didn’t we beat those guys already?

  4. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Didn’t we beat those guys already?

    Sure, NG. But that was just the pre-season. The REAL War on Terror…uh..global struggle against islamofishes…ah…steadfast perseverance against meanitude starts NOW!

  5. Dugger says:

    Well wait no longer children.

    When you say this

    “we have known that its quite likely that Osama Bin Laden”

    it means you don’t know if Bin Laden is in Pakistan or where he is.

    Dugger is quite likely rich.

    Thomas Dewey was quite likely President.

    Thw WorldWatch Institute says its quite likely global warming causes more hurricanes.

  6. frameone says:

    Dugger, bin ladenn’s just been ostensibly offered sanctuary. Even if he isn’t in that region now, don’t you think it’s a good bet that he’s headin there at this moment as fast as his donkey will carry him?

  7. Dugger says:

    frame,
    Actually, IMO, Bin Laden would try and figure what we are figuring and then not do it.

    And all of the idiots talking here about going in to Pakistan and “finding” Bin Laden are just that – idiots. If he is there, Pakistan is the sixth largest country in the friggin world. The world. Most of those people are Muslim. How long to you think it would take to search about one 100,000,00 households? Think there’s a chance he could move around, between hosueholds? Believe there is any terrain there good for hiding?

  8. midderpidge says:

    Dugger is right, it’s too hard.

  9. frameone says:

    “…Bin Laden would try and figure what we are figuring and then not do it.”

    I betcha he figured early on that Bush’s rhetoric about attacking countries that harbor terrorists was just bullshit cover for Iraq and then moved to Pakistan. Turns out he was right.

    The strategy is real easy to figure out:

    -Pakistan has nuclear weapons;
    -Musharraf is barely holding on to power;
    -If he falls, an Islamist government will almost certainly take over;
    -If that happens, Osama gets nukes.

    Ergo, Musharraf gets to do whatever he wants.
