Hey Look, More Anvils from Acme

Another Al Qaeda #2 has been caught in Iraq. Clearly like the capture of the other 3,000 Al Qaeda #2s and the death of Zarqawi, this means flowers and daisies in Iraq.

Oh wait, I’m not a conservative, and not that stupid.

The truth is, Islamofascists can’t count past two.

  2. Dugger says:

We capture a major terrorist and progressives are angry!!

You guys want to run the country right??

Wait. Maybe Murtha knows the soldiers are lying. Or maybe Durbin thinks they are still Nazis and we shouldn’t trust Nazis.

  3. tyfoc says:

If Democrats were in charge, the War on Terror would be over.

And this post would be written in Arabic.

  4. Nimrod Gently says:

Still talking complete bollocks, eh Dugger? How’s that working out for you?

  5. frameone says:

“And this post would be written in Arabic.”

Between Dugger and this moron I can see why the right is in such a panic now,its only remaining supporters are idiots and the batshit crazy.

  6. factcheck says:

Spot on, frame, yet when you ask these people what sacrifices they have made for the war on Muslims, they become surprisingly angry.

  7. Mouse says:

You know what Dugger, I think you’re right: Now that # 2 Al Qaeda man, Hamed Jumaa Faris Juri al-Saaydi has been captured, Democrats must be crying in their arak.

Or is that this other #2?

Oh, it’s all too confusing. Thank goodness the Republicans are good at #2′s.

  8. Mouse says:

The link to the “other # 2″ didn’t work: here it is: http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/01/06/alqaeda.video/index.html

  9. bryan says:

How come it’s ok to see a dead #2 on US TV, but a glimpse of Janet Jacksons southward leaning nipple is an outrage?

  10. Rounds77 says:

“If Democrats were in charge, the War on Terror would be over. And this post would be written in Arabic.” Signed tyfoc, the sites shiniest new Bushbot, who promises to utter every last Rove talking point to death.

  11. SaveFarris says:

How come it’s ok to see a dead #2 on US TV, but a glimpse of Janet Jacksons southward leaning nipple is an outrage?

Hmmm, maybe because one is on a news show and one is on a sports program, with millions of children watching.

  12. SaveFarris says:

  13. Well, if there’s one thing millions of children have never seen, it ain’t a woman’s nipple. That’s Right Wing America for you: gratuitos violence is acceptable for children, but brief glimpses of women’s breasts are off limits.

  14. Repack Rider says:

maybe because one is on a news show and one is on a sports program, with millions of children watching.

Doesn’t even matter that nipples were MADE for children?

  15. Nimrod Gently says:

    Children don’t watch the news?

  16. Dugger says:

Still, it is telling that progressives response to the capture of a major terrorist is not happiness and cheering, but disgust and anger.

You guys really, really aren’t serious about fighting terrorism. The whole concept is foreign to you. Thats really the reason W is Pres. He’s a weak candidate. The only thing weaker in the public’s mind is Democrats will and ability to fight the WOT. And if you think running on a “surrender in iraq” platform will fix that, then, have at it.

Dugger, When the going gets tough, the Democrats recommend strategic redeployment

    Dugger

  17. factcheck says:

Notice how duge conflates the “war on terror” with Iraq.

  18. Nimrod Gently says:

Honestly, Dugger, you’re like that Tom Tomorrow cartoon about how to hold a debate as a Republican: 1) Carefully define message, 2) Listen patiently to opponent, 3) Return to message. Rinse and repeat.

More specifically in this situation: 1) Dugger: OMG YOU LIBRULS ARE ANGRY THAT WE CAUGHT A BROWN TERRORIST PERSON 2) Non-Bushbot contingent: (slowly and carefully explain how strange it is that every single brown person we capture these days seems to be Osama’s deputy 3) Dugger: OMG YOU LIBRULS ARE ANGRY THAT WE CAUGHT A BROWN TERRORIST PERSON

Throw in a couple of references to “surrender in Iraq” like we haven’t already lost.

    Stir.

  19. frameone says:

Dugger, Oliver isn’t “disgusted and angry,” he’s pragmatic. Like myself he recognizes that capturing an endless string of “#2 men” doesn’t mean much in the long wrong given the nature of al Qeada’s command structure.
In Afghanistan we had al Qeada on the run but Bush decided not to finish the job and instead diverted resources to Iraq.
Thanks to Bush’s (and Rumsfeld’s) blunder, al qeada’s #1 still survives an aldeada itself has morphed, as other have put it, into a brand. Cells pop up, take the name, hatch a plan and execute with minimal if any connection to all these #2s and #3s we keep hearing about. So these kinds of arrests, while important, don’t really mean alot for an organization with zero central command structure.

And yet everytime one of these guys is arrested right wing dipshits pulled the megaphones and start hollering “We’re Winning!” But for some reason it’s the left that’s not “serious” about the war on terror. Hilarious.

  20. Repack Rider says:

Drugger: You guys really, really aren’t serious about fighting terrorism. The whole concept is foreign to you.

I’ll tell you all about my Army hitch if you tell us about yours.

  21. Bill L. says:

    From th NYT:

…an American military official was more cautious in describing Mr. Saeedi’s place in the Al Qaeda pecking order. While Mr. Saeedi was certainly a “top-tier guy” who supervised the insurgents who carried out the Samarra mosque bombing, “I’m not sure we are ready to put a number on him,” the American official said. “It’s a very decentralized operation.”

Okay, so maybe not #2…but still really really important..really! Why can’t you progressives be good little sycophantic knob polishers and just lap up the propaganda? Why must you question the politically convenient capture of another Al Qaeda #2…or #3…I know it can be confusing. Hey, you try keeping the numbers straight when you’re creating hundreds of new #2′s for every trophy kill/capture you parade for the press.

    Murtha!

    Durbin!

  22. chum says:

This does seem to be a breakthrough of sorts in the WOT. Previously it was a string of number 3 al Qaeda men who were rolled up.

My question is was this guy also a number 3 when they got Zarqawi, and moved up to number 1 after that bombing, or was this guy a feckless number 2 who just didn’t have what it took to be “the guy”.

Maybe this guy will go on trial to bring up the prosecutions that haven’t changed much since the official war begun. Heck they even have the proclaimed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who hasn’t seen the light of a court room.

Maybe they plan on trying them over there so they don’t have to try them here???

  23. Dugger says:

So there is no happiness a major T is captured because progressives whine about his numerical ranking?! He’s number 3 not number two!! Or whatever. Is that it? And you guys think one of your ilk is ready to lead us?

Do you realize most Americans are d*mn happy when any major T has been captured. But then most Americans don’t live, eat, sleep and cr*p Bush-hate.

  24. Sundown says:

    Dugger,

At one time, they were. But by now, Americans have gotten fed up with the repeating storyline, and we know that the capture/death of a “number 2″ won’t cause the chaos in Iraq to end.

So no, we “aren’t damn happy”. We as Americans generally don’t care either way by now.

  25. Nimrod Gently says:

    Dugger.

For the love of God either stop living in denial or move to Egypt and have done with it.

    And another thing.

    http://www.uploadfile.info/uploads/da5563ae02.gif

    Quit it.

    LoL!

    You’re a silly billy, Dugger.

Take a moment to think about it … it’s The Decider and his merry band of men who perpetuated the Al Qaeda Executive Number System. Whenever someone is caught, we are supposed to just believe the captor is #2-#5 (the Top 5 is really the most impressive sounding). Because that’s the number The Decider assigned to the captor?

How do they know he’s #2? Why are we obligated to believe everything The Decider tells us?

Is it your argument that we should be euphoric that ANYONE was caught?

  27. Lantern Bearer says:

I will be happy when the number two man in the Bush administration is taken into custody.

    LB

  28. chum says:

Well Dugger, it’s because of lists like this where the enthusiasm starts to wane:

  29. Rounds77 says:

Do you guys on the right actually believe we’re going to win the war on terror by acheiving some sort of victory in Iraq? A win in Iraq now would only amount to fixing something we broke. Let’s make sure we’re all clear: Al-Queda was never headquartered in Iraq and is only there now because of American stupidity. Please forgive us when we don’t see any Al-Queda killings in Iraq as a mark of progression on our war on terror.
The right is great at making a lot of noise about how Democrats are too wimpy to fight the terrorists. Yet with the right’s warmongering attitudes, the only thing we’ve accomplished is a huge national debt to places like China and a massive drop of respect in the eyes of the world. Meanwhile, Al-Queda thrives.
With that said, the Republican “ilk” sucks at defeating terrorism. I don’t see how Democrats could do much worse. I don’t think anyone could do worse. This administration’s action are a total failure.

  30. Ian says:

I guarantee if and when we catch Osama, you liberals, I mean “progressives”, will still be crying and complaining about it. Saying it’s meaningless and probably congratulate another country who had little help in the same sentence.

Prove me wrong, prove me wrong.

  31. frameone says:

“Prove me wrong, prove me wrong.”

Hey Ian, I’d love to be proven wrong that this administration isn’t a bucnh on incompetent, cold war hangover hacks. Catching bin Laden would a good first step. How’s that coming along, BTW?

  32. Sundown says:

    Ian,

So you readily admit that the only reason you’d want Osama bin Laden to be caught is to gain political points?

You truly are selfish and hateful.

  33. Ian says:

    Sundown,

You can spin it all you want.

  34. Nimrod Gently says:

    He barely needs to, Ian.

  35. SaveFarris says:

And frameone wins the John F. Kerry Flip-Flop of the Thread Award!
    1.

“So these kinds of arrests, while important, don’t really mean alot for an organization with zero central command structure.”

    2.

Catching bin Laden would a good first step. How’s that coming along, BTW?

  36. Nimrod Gently says:

    Yeah. That’s complete bollocks.

I’d point out how but it’s pretty much self-evident.

  37. factcheck says:

    What frame REALLY said:

Hey Ian, I’d love to be proven wrong that this administration isn’t a bunch on incompetent, cold war hangover hacks . Catching bin Laden would a good first step. (in proving that the admin isn’t incompetent hacks)

  38. frameone says:

Way to go, Save, you’ve pretty much encapsulated the utter dishonesty of right wing rhetorical strategy in the face of reality.

  39. frameone says:

    oh, and thanks, fact.
