Blame Clinton: ABC/Disney Joins The Crowd

4:17 pm EST September 1st, 2006 | Media | 21 Comments

In the continuing saga of propaganda disguised as entertainment and information, ABC is pushing a movie that blames 9/11 on President Clinton instead of the administration on whose watch the worst terrorist attacks happened (rhymes with George W. Bush).

In this case it is the Path to 9/11 so they’re backing up and starting at 1993 with the first World Trade Center bombing. I don’t think their singular focus is going to be on the attack itself, but the whole timeline leading up to that, which happened to occur during the Clinton Administration.

I don’t think it would be fair to just say on January 20th, 2000 Al Qaeda decided “Bush is in office, why not fly planes into buildings.” It’s not like Al Qaeda wasn’t active during the Clinton Administration. We had Republican control of the legislature, so there’s blame to fall on them, too.

But, come on, it’s Disney and ABC, not Frontline, of course they’re going to give an easy, stripped down summary without going into the larger intricacies, such as backing up all the way to the ’80s and discussing Reagan’s funding and arming of the Mujahadeen and creating Osama in the first place.

Please read and sign this petition to keep ABC from airing this piece of propagandized bull sh*t. Spread the word to your smart friends to sign it as well.

“But, come on, it’s Disney and ABC, not Frontline, of course they’re going to give an easy, stripped down summary …”

So go ahead and look the other way while misconceptions and disinformation becomes ingrained in the popular culture. No bigee.

It’s TV after all. I wouldn’t trust anything I saw 100%…I even think the Superbowl is rigged. That’s what I was saying in another thread, know thy source and their angle. I read ABC’s show description and they are calling it a dramatization based on the 9/11 commission findings, not a documentary.

No administration, Reagan and beyond, is blameless in the ascension of Osama and Al Qaeda, every administration has misstepped, some more than others. I’ll reserve judgment until I see the show with my own eyes.

Listen, if it plays against American Idol, nobody’ll watch it anyway.

  5. Steve Wasser says:

Why stop them from airing it Billy? It’s their right to use the public airwaves to make a buck. Free speech and all. I’m not for censoring anyone because I don’t like what they have to say. Look at it this way, it will be great conversaion fodder for OW.

  6. midderpidge says:

Just as it’s others’ right to warn ABC that there might be an economic impact for airing the show? If people don’t let ABC know the possible consequences, how can ABC make an informed judgement on whether playing the show would be a sound economic decision?

  7. Rheinhard says:

Remeber when the conservadroid whiners got CBS to pull its TV movie because it didn’t suck Reagan’s dead cock enough?

We need to try to do the same thing here. Because, exactly as frameone points out, this shit gets embedded in the public consciousness and becomes “truth” (or as Colbert would say “truthy”). And the deceptions of this thing sound infinitely worse than than the Reagan movie, because it’s trying to prop up the existing regime with lies; at least the CBS movie waited around until the old geezer had croaked.

  8. Rounds77 says:

This is another example of how Bush can only be made to look good when facts are manipulated.

  9. Jay says:

Oh boo frigging hoo. Once again, liberals want to pretend that the Al Qaeda didn’t exist before January of 2001 because heaven forbid that criticism is directed at Bill Clinton.

Here’s the thing: If you think the 9/11 attacks were planned and coordinated after January 20, 2001, then you are a person that is too stupid to deserve to live and you should kill yourself right now.

If you have any sort of brain activity you acknowledge that the Clinton administration and their response to terror attacks and what they didn’t do about it throughout the 90′s played a part in what led to the attacks on that day.

  10. Nimrod Gently says:

Quite the opposite, actually. We know al-Qaeda existed before January of 2001, because Clinton mentioned how much of a threat they were more than once.

Obviously we acknowledge that actions and lacks thereof of the Clinton administration are a factor in the chain of events that led to the attacks. We just object to a major television network implying that it’s all Clinton’s fault and the Bush administration hardly made a misstep because PRESIDENT BUSH IS JUST AND WISE

Not that you’re particularly au fait with the concept of nuances, Jay.

  11. bryan says:

Someone find mention of Al-queada from before Sept 2001 (as opposed to Bin Laden who was a known threat). I’d be grateful for the link, because I’m just not sure such a name was used before that month.

  12. Jay says:

We just object to a major television network implying that it’s all Clinton’s fault and the Bush administration hardly made a misstep because PRESIDENT BUSH IS JUST AND WISE

    Oh, so you’ve seen it?

  13. Nimrod Gently says:

Oh, so you have as well?

  14. Jay says:

No, but I’m not ready to pass judgement on it before I see it.

What kills is me is the left goes batshit when the AFA protests CBS airing curse words on television, but then in extreme hypocritical fashion, they want to yank this off the air because it is critical of King Clinton.

    Give it up.

  15. k rodriguez says:

when is the bs going to stop.

propaganda for the administrations benefit when this country is in such bad shape is not only irresponsible but sick on the part of abc.

america deserves better after 5 1/2 years of lies.

  16. john b says:

    It is troublesome as an
american to know that the left in this country seems to not want all the facts layout
about 911. We all need to see the facts so we can learn from mistakes on both the left and the right to ensure we never have to have a
dicussion about such a horrific event again

  17. Linda C. says:

The truth is that it is neither Bush or Clinton’s fault…the fault goes back to Jimmy Carter, who will go down in history as one of the most irrelevant leaders. Nice Man who helps the poor doesn’t equate to being qualified as President of US

  18. Art says:

Just like the Dems to go ballistic when a little light is put on truth, the real truth and not theirs.
This from a party who gave the inept Pres. Carter and the fiction writer Michael Moore the seat of honor.
Okay, okay enough with the serious stuff – Where’s Monica??
