A few years ago (15), Tony Kornheiser began a legendary series of columns in which he wrote about the Redskins “bandwagon” and how awesome the team was going to play each week. It so happens the Redskins won the Superbowl that year.
In honor of this, I am – at least temporarily – taking my common sense and locking him in a closet. Instead, I am rolling out the ChuckwagonTM, in honor of current Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman, Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY).
The mighty Chuckwagon is an American-crafted vehicle of the finest caliber, hooked up to an efficient electric engine (of course) pulling along fine Democratic candidates to victory in November.
Case in point:
- Harold Ford Jr. is now leading in his race in Tennesee, and his favorability ratings have increased 8 percent. And now his opponent is involved in a lawsuit alleging some kind of pay for play with Wal-Mart.
- The DSCC has more money on hand than the NRSC, while the DCCC is a measly million behind their Republican counterpart
- As previously mentioned, Jim Webb is down a tiny 3% to George Felix Allen
- A record low 35% support the Iraq War. No word on how many times Glenn Reynolds was polled.
Bush: Leaving Iraq Now Would Be Disaster
President Bush said Monday the Iraq war is “straining the psyche of our country” but leaving now wou
Chuck is doing well, but all is not perfect within the DSCC. You do have jerks like Mark Pryor who seem to feel that party rules don’t apply to them. If we are to build a truly people-powered politics, we need to get rid of jerks like this and Lieberman who feel their judgement is superior to party voters and refuse to play by the rules they themselves set up.
Agreed. The DSCC needs to get behind Democrats who win their primaries, and stop soliciting contributions to fund personal agendas.
I’m pulling for the wildly more competent and apparently not racist Jim Webb over G. Felix Allen, Jr., but I’m nost sure the polls reflect what the outcome will be. But what do I know? Perhaps we should ask someone who does, like 3rd term Senator from NC, Harvey Gantt. (Say, that remindes me, Michael Jordan can still bite me.)
