The second plane was missed and the missile barely missed the plane and hit the building. This is backed by several news videos taken from several angles. Another jet had problems releasing its missiles. It was able to take out one of the airplanes wings with one missile; however, because the jet was flying faster than the plane and had to be so close in order to use the malfunctioning rocket, when the plane barreled out of control, the remaining wing exploded against the jet, causing the fighter pilot to crash into the wall of the Pentagon right next to the plane that also crashed into the Pentagon.

George W. was alerted that the attempt to avoid the terrorist action was unsuccessful. This is another wacky story – I bet you ate it up though didn’t you. Here is truth: it is estimated that the monetary and economical damages incurred on 9/11 or as a direct result of it exceeded more than all the Iraqi war costs incurred by the US to date. The number of American lives lost since the war began just barely surpassed (a year ago) the number of innocent civilian lives lost because of 9/11. It cost the terrorists less than .5 million dollars and less than 20 lives to inflict that enormous amount of damage.

The strategy is not to find the terrorists and kill them. The idea is to have their own people to find them and kill them so that their deaths don’t go down in history as martyrdoms but as acts of justice on criminal.

On just a side note, OPEC has been voting and considering changing their transaction currency from the dollar to the euro. Think of how upset all the countries in the world that transact with OPEC would be. Think of how peeved they would be when they found out they couldn’t buy their oil with all their hard-earned and saved dollars. What would happen if everyone tried to get the US to give them euros for their would-be completely worthless dollars.

In addition to having our currency so closely tied to oil and OPEC (kind of like being on the gold standard – except with oil), we are also largely responsible for the economic stability of other countries as well. In plain Democrat english, if we leave Iraq and our interests in the Middle East, you will see a depression in the US more severe than anything the US has ever seen. Other countries that typically rely on the US economy for their own economic stability would also see a great depression. Think of all the lives around the world that would be endangered if we left Iraq and Afghanistan. This is one of the biggest strategies of the organized militant Muslims.

Which Democrat Presidential nominee understands this and is willing to keep those parts of the Middle East secure? Both Hilary and Obama want to pull out of the Middle East.

Iraq and Kuwait combined (owned by the Jihad) would be enough to shift the needed votes over to the euro.

4/5/86 – La Belle Disco in Berlin was bombed, killing 2 American soldiers and one woman. The US identified Libya as being behind it and Reagan finally retailiated (sort of), ordering the bombing of Tripoli that ended up killing Qadaffi’s infant daughter.

12/21/88 – Pan Am 103 was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 people. Reagan was in the last two weeks of his Presidency, so this one goes to Bush. Despite evidence that, in addition to Libya, a Palestinian terrorist group, Syria, and Iran were involved, the Bush administration settled on pursuing two minor Libyan operatives, one of whom was finally convicted a few years ago.

During Reagan’s term, Hezbollah kidnapped some 30 Americans from the streets of Beirut and several were murdered. One, Terry Anderson, was held over 6 years. In an act of craven appeasement, Reagan ransomed 3 of the hostages by sending arms to Iran. After releasing the 3, Hezbollah continued to kidnap new victims, soon replacing them.

Prior to 9/11, Arab terrorists had murdered more Americans during Reagan’s administration than during all others combined. So, after terror attacks kill almost 600 people, Reagan/Bush’s results are a couple of terrorists in jail, sanctions against Libya, military arms secretly traded to Iran (the people behind Hezbollah’s atrocities and probably Pan Am 103), and a dead baby.

In addition, except for the Cole, the major perps were identified, captured, and jailed. Some were executed. Clinton also retaliated by destroying several al Qaeda training camps with cruise missiles – to the choruses of derision from Republicans intent on the Monica affair. The Republicans were worried that any foreign policy success for Clinton – even one that would be good for the country – would increase his popularity and make their single-minded impeachment crusade harder.

The only reason the Cole bombing didn’t lead to retaliatory action is that President-Elect George W. Bush cancelled the ongoing investigation and removed the 100+ agents of the FBI and JTTF Clinton had sent to Yemen soon after entering office, putting the matter on the shelf.

9/11′s architect, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, later told American interrogators that the fact that Bushignored the bombing and was uninterested in going after its perpetrators (including himself) convinced him that it was now time to try an attack on the US homeland.

By the way…can you name one Republican who joined the Clinton administration in bi-partisan efforts against foreign terrorism during those last years?

9/11 differs quantitatively and qualitatively from all of these.

Before the attack:

Unlike his predecessor, the minute Bush came into office, the entire administration put the issue of terrorism on the shelf and ignored it. They ignored all of the warnings and briefings the outgoing Clintonistas gave them. They ignored dozens of warnings from the FBI and CIA. They ignored the warnings of their own White House counter-terror experts. They didn’t even bother to raise the alert level with border and airport security.

During the attack:

Bush apparently froze in panic and indecision and failed to react to the attacks for over an hour, giving al Qaeda far more time to complete the attacks than they had expected. By the time he woke up and gave his first shootdown order, it was after 10:00 AM, and everything was over.

After the attack:

Bush failed to capture and punish almost all of the men who perpetrated the worst attack on US soil in our history, despite having them all cornered in caves in Tora Bora – in large part because he was already secretly draining money and resources from the Afghan war to start ramping up to invade Saddam, who had nothing to do with the attack.

I’d say that trying to compare the Clinton administration’s somewhat mixed efforts with Bush’s failure to do ANYTHING before the attack, failure to respond quickly and strongly during the attack, and failure to act decisively and strongly enough after the attack is like trying to compare a peeping Tom with a serial killer.

The WTC bombing occurred 38 days after GHWB left office. Maybe you should spread your blame to 41′s adminstration, as most planning, reconnaisance and preparation for the bombing occurred during its watch.
