Oh, wait. Nevermind.
Iraq is more likely to slide into civil war than turn into a democracy, Britain’s outgoing ambassador to Baghdad wrote in a leaked diplomatic cable, the BBC public broadcaster reported on Thursday.
William Patey’s final cable from Baghdad gives a far more pessimistic assessment for prospects in Iraq than Britain has disclosed in public. It warns of the prospect of Shi’ite militia forming a "state within a state", like Hizbollah in Lebanon.
"The prospect of a low intensity civil war and a de facto division of Iraq is probably more likely at this stage than a successful and substantial transition to a stable democracy," he wrote, according to excerpts quoted by the public broadcaster.
It is really not that difficult to figure out, for those of us using our brains. The Bush administration keeps harping about ’spreading democracy and liberty,’ but they promote their ‘values’ at the point of a gun. The only ‘democracy’ they’re willing to acknowledge in Iraq is one that will allow their corporate friends to rape the local economy and make virtual slaves of the vast majority of Iraqis.
It’s no wonder some people have the inclination and the backbone to fight against that b.s.
Finally, you guys have admitted that there might possibly be a Civil War in Iraq in the near future, assuming there isn’t one already which of course there isn’t shut up okay

You know I got in this huge debate with a woman on 4th of July (friend of the host) who said Bush would go down in history as the “greatest President EVER!” I asked her why she thought so and she said “because he has planted a seed of democracy in the Middle East.”
Now it looks like, not every seed planted actually grows. Some get smooshed under the butt of a gun.
