ABC News: Bush Acknowledges Racism Still Exists

“I understand that racism still lingers in America,” Bush told the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. “It’s a lot easier to change a law than to change a human heart. And I understand that many African-Americans distrust my political party.”

That line generated boisterous applause and cheers from the thousands in the audience, which generally gave the president a polite, reserved reception.

You don’t say?

    I have to give him credit on the speech. It was definetly his best. No amendments!(I wonder how cons will react). He did say “at the TURD of the century”. LOL! The headline just proves that mainstream news are idiots without editors.

    I’ll tell you how the Conthugrepugnicans are going to react, we’re furious. I can’t believe he had the nerve to speak to a room full of… I can barely type it.. black people!! And, some of them might be gay! If there’s one thing we ALL hate more than black people it’s gay black people. He’s definitely not gettin my vote in ’08.     “Whenever the President mentioned policies that could actually provide long-term benefits for blacks (school choice, home ownership initiatives, asset accumulation and protection)- silence or unenthusiastic applause. When he talked about the government spending money-louder applause. And when he talked about reauthorization of the VRA, which many in the crowd incorrectly think is necessary otherwise blacks won’t be permitted to vote-wild applause. Conclusion: a reaffirmation that the NAACP remains stuck in the 1960s.”

    Panic (or should I say Kanye)- are you stupid or do you just play it on TV? First of all figure out what the question means before you make more of a fool of yourself.

    “Without amendment”, Whale? Fine by me. Though I think that perhaps that the special rules for the certain southern States in question may now be unnecessary at this point in time, it is a good thing that the government reaffirms this important principle by statute. It would hurt anybody to have those rules remain intact.
