But, in thye end, I m guessing that what really (urinates) off my friends on the left isn t that the President used a vulgarity for feces, but that he placed the blame squarely where it belongs, on Hezbollah, rather than on Israel.

Sorry Dana, "Harpy" Ann Coulter has already taken the job. And, you don't actually believe that nonsense, do you? Furthermore, I couldn't care less how many times dear leader uses the "s" word. It would be nice though if he could get his together.

I know you ve seen these quotes from the dims before, but it s still fun.

DC, you may find it so, but I dont think it's "humorous" that politicians, including democrats, voted for a "blank check" resolution that supposedly endorsed a military action based on lies, or many on as your side would like to portray it, "bad intelligence". It is not humorous at all, when the results of such actions include the unecessary deaths of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

"Better BJ in the oval office than embarrasing us with 2,500 dead for a lie."
I know you've seen these quotes from the dims before, but it's still fun..

"Iraq made commitments after the Gulf War to completely dismantle all weapons of mass destruction, and unfortunately, Iraq has not lived up to its agreement." -- Barbara Boxer, November 8, 2002

"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998

"Saddam Hussein's regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal." -- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." -- Ted Kennedy, September 27, 2002

"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John F. Kerry, Oct 2002

etc., etc, etc.,

DCPanic - the funny thing about the infamous blowjob is, the only people in the world who gave a rat's ass about it was US! Clinton didn't embarass us in front of the world, it's the morality police that turned a very garden variety extracurricular fling into a national sideshow that had the rest of planet looking at us and going "WTF?"

What I am concerned about is the depth of thinking that this reflects in this man, Boy we could have peace if all them bad guys would stop doing shit! It s Middle East foreign policy courtesy of Earl, the gas station attendant, and underscores why we re in the shit we re in with respect to foreign policy everywhere.

Am I the only one here reminded of when McCain displayed a similar depth of reasoning when he made a comment similar to Bush's?

I'm just glad he didn't really disgrace the country by, oh I don't know... getting a blow job from a young intern and then doing things with a cigar... Wow, President Bush said "Shit." I think that's an impeachable offense.

Slow news day Ollie?

"What I am concerned about is the depth of thinking that this reflects in this man ..."

Notice also how Bush repeatedly interrupts Blair who is making that point that simply sending Rice to the Middle East will not be enough. Blair is suggesting that the proper groundwork has to be laid because if you send Rice, failure is not an option. Bush simply interrupts him, "Ya, ya process is important." What is is about Bush and planning ...

I second that, Rheinhard. It's no surprise that U.S. influence is weaker in every region in the world than it was in 2002.

You're witnessing a failure of a president, who is the product of a failure of a political movement, which is the product of a failed ideology.

... in what he believed was a private moment ...

You'd think it wouldn't have been such a surprise, given his administration's comfort level with wiretapping of other peoples' private moments.

I'm not concerned in the slightest that the president said "shit", nor would I be if he used a variety of other four letter words. There are numerous famous leaders who were known to swear like sailors.

"... especially given that he believed the mics were not on and he was having a private word with PM Blair."

Um, that's exaclty why this is news. It's news because it's the president being caught in a supposedly unguarded moment. Doesn't matter that the president said "shit," although that certainly spices it up. He could have been swapping potato salad recipes with Blair and the networks would still been all over it.

No, you're being stupid, behaving as though this is news. So is the media, which puts you on equally stupid footing with them.

The President saying the word "shit" is not news, especially given that he believed the mics were not on and he was having a private word with PM Blair. Not the kind that demands the kind of coverage they've given it, especially with all that is going on.

What Oliver is posting about (near as I can tell) is the call for civil discourse from the Right, and the convenient ignoring of such civility when it suits a purpose.

What the hell does the President saying, "...to stop doing this shit" in reference to Hezbollah in what he believed was a private moment, have to do with civil discourse?

You guess wrong, Dana, but I would expect that, considering your oversimplification of the current crisis as "Israel good, Arabs bad."

Like all such conflicts, the gray area is far larger than the black and the white.

There are a lot of things that you can fault the President with, but, come on, this is like getting in a foul mood because of a breast on the Superbowl.

Although it is kind of humourous that the headline is under a giant "Breaking News" banner like it's the end of the world of something. I think I could see the outrage if he came out to a televised press conference and was like "Shut the f- up you f-er's", but this wasn't exactly a public press conference or anything.

Note to the left from a concerned voter: I'd kind of like to have a some Democrats in power again, could you please stop obsessing on every little thing President Bush does and start focusing on how to fix things? Thanks a bunch!

No, Dana, that ain't it. I have often said that the Middle East should cut that shit out, but I'm not really in a postition to say it to those who matter.
What Oliver is posting about (near as I can tell) is the call for civil discourse from the Right, and the convenient ignoring of such civility when it suits a purpose.
I don't know if anyone saw Louis Black's HBO special, but he did say that these are the words adults use. He had to clean up his act for the White House Correspondents dinner because, as he put it, "the word 'shit' makes them cry."

Y'all must be desperate for something bad to say about President Bush, whining because he said that Hezbollah needs to stop the (unhelpful feces) they are pulling.

He certainly expressed, pretty clearly, how I feel about it. But, in thye end, I'm guessing that what really (urinates) off my friends on the left isn't that the President used a vulgarity for feces, but that he placed the blame squarely where it belongs, on Hezbollah, rather than on Israel.
