The “Values” The Cons Hold So Dear

They can’t help themselves.

Beer magnate and former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Pete Coors was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and is due to appear in court on the charges next Thursday.

A Colorado State Patrol trooper pulled Coors over after he saw him run a stop sign around the corner from his home in Golden about 11:25 p.m. on May 28.

Oh, geez, Oliver. Seriously? I understand and welcome the push to attack, but you gotta watch your flank, too.

    In other words…

Now taking bets on the exact number of Ted Kennedy posts that appear in response to this entry.

  2. JWG says:

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say. People should condemn drunken driving, but why would you associate it with Republicans specifically?

  3. roche says:

On a side note, of course it’s a Coors who would be in this position.

  4. White Whale says:

I can’t attest that Coors is a “family” values voter or a social conservative, but I am glad no one was with him for his drunken driving. I learned a great lesson in college: Don’t ever get in a car and drive if you have been drinking, especially with another driver. Maybe I am niave, but I can’t always tell when someone is drunk.
    BD,
Don’t worry so much about the Kennedy cracks. Immaculate Christian Republicans are the ones that make these stories so tragic. If only they were realistic humans….

  5. scratch says:

    [insert obvious response here]

  6. Missed the part where Sen. Kennedy is a member of a party that markets itself as above all morals, better than any mortal could hope to be.

  7. deus_ex_machina says:

Petey Coors forget one of the guidelines Frank Lopez laid down to Tony Montana when he started out in the business:
Don’t get high on your own supply

  8. We’re the party who doesn’t put ourselves up above everyone else, like some sort of godlike figures whose brilliance would just blind you.

In other words, we’re not a bunch of dicks.

  9. Frank_D says:

Right, Oliver, the Democratics are the immoral party, aren’t they?

Now if Coors were a Kennedy, he would have got a ride home, and certainly no ticket…

  10. Hedley says:

Oh sure, the Democrats never put themselves above anyone else, except perhaps anyone in a red state.

  11. Bushwacked says:

I think the purpose of the post was to convey that not all drunks are democrats and not all democrats are drunks.

  12. Frank_D says:

Who ever said all drunks are Democrats?

I’ve always said that the drunks who don’t get arrested are Democratics!

  13. duros62 says:

    Deus ex
Do you honestly think Pete Coors drinks Coors beer? bleah!

  14. Marty says:

In other words, we re not a bunch of dicks.

    Hmmm. Feisty.

(There is an obvious response, but in the name of civil discourse, I choose to remain…. well… Civil.)

  15. Bushwacked says:

Now if Coors were a Kennedy, he would have got a ride home, and certainly no ticket&

Actually, if Coors had been in DC at the Capitol and stopped by officers who knew him, he would have likely have gotten the same treatment as Kennedy. Whether right or not, that is the advantage of being a famous politician, not a republican or democrat. And, in case you forgot not all democrats or their relatives get off the hook.

  16. Bushwacked says:

I ve always said that the drunks who don t get arrested are Democratics!

If thats case, your always wrong.

  17. Frank_D says:

“the former wife of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy”

    That breaks the chain…

  18. Dugger says:

While Mary Jo is under water. Kennedy back at Edgartown later that night – no accident reported.

“Kennedy told him he had been disturbed by noises coming from a party next door. “I’ve looked for my watch and seem to have misplaced it. What time is it?” he asked.”

    Dugger

  19. roche says:

Well, I guess he’s not exactly Presidential material.

Unless he gets two more DUI’s and a drunk-and-disorderly under his belt.

“I’d rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than driving with Pete Coors.”
