Scary Times

I have watched way too many “middle of the day on a Saturday” specials on Nostradamus to think that any good can come of a middle-eastern war involving Israel and Arab states.

    And Hedley, I would also think that your contention is proof that democracy alone won’t cure the problems of the Middle East. For as much as we’ve tried to make the Arab world swallow Western-style democracy as the magic pill that makes everything better, democratic elections in Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine have not gone according to “plan.”

    Iran had a democracy in the early 1950′s which we overthrew. Why? Because they decided to nationalise their oil production.
