Are We On The Same Planet?

Glenn “The Left Is Objectively Pro-Saddam” Reynolds bemoans the lack of civility on the left.

In related news: “MALKIN SMEARS DEAD WOMAN, SAYS SHE’S A “CORRUPTOCRAT.” SERIOUSLY.”

And people wonder why I laughed my ass off when these people proposed “online integrity”.

I read all about our corruptocrat dean in the papers after her death. It was funny, I didn’t see mention of the whole ROTC debacle. I did see mention of her putting hundreds of thousands of dollars into her UC house. I did see mention of her hiring her gay lover for a pawltry 200K a year.

So I don’t see an integrity issue here. Or do you condone the kind of nepotism that the dean was practicing ollie?

Chancellor Commits Suicide - Blame Michelle Malkin…

It’s a sad story, for sure. But it’s even sadder when the folks at the American Prospect, OliverWillis, and Reason use it to score political points against Malkin….

I think that this “pressure of public opinion” language is a recognition by Saddam that the “anti-war” movement is objectively on his side, and not neutral.

According to Mr. Reynolds, the left is an ally of Saddam Hussein. You wouldn’t have believed that a few years ago. See any flaming liberals here?

Nobody hates like a compassionate progressive. Why? Maybe because they are sure they are morally and intellectually superior and can’t stand to see the ‘rubes’ standing in the way of their ideas - which will surely bring near Utopia.

Dugger “I hate President George W. Bush. There, I said it. I think his policies rank him among the worst presidents in U.S. history. And, while I’m tempted to leave it at that, the truth is that I hate him for less substantive reasons, too….” Chait

sorry that should say: “Yes it does …”

Classic, Peed’. If OW points out that it’s unseemly to criticize the woman after she was driven to suicide, that obviously means he excuses–no, no supports all of her bad deeds.

If you claim the sky is green and I say it’s not, that doesn’t mean I approve of hurricanes.

More hate speech from the right … er, not so much.

“If you claim the sky is green and I say it s not, that doesn t mean I approve of hurricanes.”

Yes, because we hate Florida. After 2000 we became obectively pro-hurricane. Did you not get the memo?

after she was driven to suicide

Is that your diagnosis? Other people were at fault for her poor mental health? Classic leftist crap. It’s always someone else’s fault for an individual’s actions.

Seperate issue, she didnt comment at first, and i will be willing to agree that perhaps it wasnt necessary to, it cant really be proven that the harassment she incited against the woman caused her suicide in any way. The issue though is that once this was brought to her attention, she (and drpedro, to whom I was actually specifically referring) attacked the deceased, calling her a corrupt-o-crat. Its interesting to note actually that she says if she had commented on her passing, it would have been in the context of an attack anyway.

If I had said anything, his ilk would have jumped all over me for not having the compassion to keep quiet about her various scandals and corruptocrat ways and let her loved ones mourn in peace.

She’s saying right there, if she had commented on her tragic suicide, it would only have been to bring up the alleged scandals again. Classy, am I right?

Look, I’ll grant that if she did commit suicide its likely she had a psychological predisposition toward it, which doesnt necessarily make it the fault of the people who were harassing her and sending death threats that it happened. Are you actually arging though that this minor figure is worthy of attack after, so damn soon after her unfortunate end? Are you honestly so soulless that you need to continue to go after those with no voice to defend themselves?

  13. Gravatar Icon 13 drpedro

Quaker it looks to me like she was behind the wheel when she was “driven” to suicide.

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 JWG

BTW, notice the lack of logic from the left in this argument? Malkin is accused of contributing to the suicide. In order to demonstrate that the woman had other problems besides phone calls from Malkin readers, people must point out her other issues. As soon as those issues are noted, people are accused of being “soulless” for bringing up her other problems.

Cripes…Malkin is being criticized for NOT saying anything afterward. How is this getting turned into the opposite?

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 framefan

Oliver, when Ken Lay gets the same consideration after his untimely death, maybe then you will have a point. Until then I have to press the B.S. alarm button.

Malkin is accused of contributing to the suicide.

    Really? By whom?

The posts I’ve read on the subject specifically say she probably didn’t contribute to it.

    Rex says
“Are you honestly so soulless that you need to continue to go after those with no voice to defend themselves?”

Don’t worry so much Rex, they can’t defend themselves, but they won’t get their feelings hurt either…if they’re dead……

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 Rex Mundane

Don t worry so much Rex, they can t defend themselves, but they won t get their feelings hurt either& if they re dead&

Oh, never thought of it like that… hm…
Pedro, I thought you might like to know that every deceased female in your family line was a cheap whore, and every male a drunken goat rapist. And its perfectly okay for me to say that, because they’re feelings specifically cant be hurt, on account of them being dead whores and goat-rapists, putting them in certainly no position to moralize at me, and since their feelings arent hurt, you have no reason to find this problematic, and have to accept it at face value.
Wow… that is some wonderful, sensible logic you use there to defend slurs against the memory of a dead woman there, and so much fun to apply elsewhere. Good for you.

They’ve declared war, Oliver. They are fighting a war against basic decency.

Shall we defend decency, or shall we let their war progress towards their outcome?

  21. Gravatar Icon 21 drpedro

heheehhehe….no, you won’t offend my relatives…but you can certainly offend me (difficult, but possible)

And it would be more accurate to that “it is perfectly ok for you to say that” because you aren’t standing in front of me…..in which case it might not actually be “perfectly ok” unless you have always WANTED to see what your teeth taste like…. ; )

And of course, it would be a bit more difficult for me to take umbrage with your statements were they actually true.

So, if we have someone who was on at least some level corrupt, it doesn’t seem beyond the pale to reference the aforementioned corruption whether they be dead or alive….
