There He Goes Again

Michael Steele does his part to prove that there is no “there” there for black conservatives more than putting a black face on Republican hate.
The fundraiser thrown for Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele on Thursday night, while ordinary in most ways, struck some African American leaders as notable because of the host.
Unlike the dozens of high-dollar events across the country in his U.S. Senate bid, this event was thrown by the producer of the famous “Willie Horton” ad, the 1988 commercial that came to symbolize the cynical use of skin color as a political wedge.
Maybe this week he’ll collect from the Klan – just another donor, you know.

Here’s an example of Republican hate:
Republicans hate to let a convicted murderer, sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole, out of prison for the weekend. We especially hate it when that convicted murderer–still serving his life sentence, mind you–brutally beats (tortures, really…it took place over several hours) a man and rapes a woman.
Democrats apparently hate it when Republicans point out such insane programs to the electorate, as long as any of those involved are not white.
The Horton ad was “the niggers are coming to rape your wives”. It was done because Bush was down 15% in the polls to Dukakis at the time.
I believe it was Reagan/Bush furloughed more federal prisoners during that time than Dukakis. Don’t forget Bush Sr. pardon of Orlando Bosch.
Insane program? Started by … a republican.
Welcome to the darkside of cynicism and for pointing out the obvious Sith tendencies of Michael Steele. Your appropriate use of the N-WORD warms my heart.
At long last, we can speak of the self-loathing handkerchief heads in the GOP with the “reverence” they so richly deserve.
The insane program “started by a Republican” was not designed to furlough murderers serving a life sentence with no possiblity of parole. What the hell is a furlough for anyway? It’s a rehabilitative tool. We can debate rehabilitation all day long, but it’s difficult to argue that this particular means of rehabilition is appropriate for someone that a jury has decided should never see the light of day again.
“We hereby sentence you to life in prison without the possiblity of parole. Except for weekends.”
If any Republican furloughed a person serving this type of sentence, I would like to hear about it.
So the Producer of the “Willie Horton ad”, whose content was swiped from Al Gore, is now somehow tainting the Steele campaign.
Joe McCarthy must be spinning in his grave, at the way the left has co – opted his techniques, which they once claimed to fear and loathe.
BTW, you’re right, Oliver. I remember thinking, “This ad makes no sense… I’m not married!”
Oliver…
I think any reasonable reading of the issue is more akin to, “Dukakis insists on letting convicted murderers off of their life sentences and into the streets, where they just might torture you and rape your wife.”
Of course, your disgusting response show that you have no interest in reason.
Is that why the Left (Oliver, in particular) is borrowing his tactics?
Frank,
I thought Joe McCarthy was one of the good guys!
/sarcasm
Of course being tainted by association is a technique that people in any political sphere may do, it’s not unique to McCarthy. It may not be entirely logical to link people in this way, but lots of voters do so.Hence, the wise thing for a politican to do is to just cut such embarassing people out of the fundraisers
You’re right, if you’re a liberal, and think voters are idiots.
Conservatives have more respect for Joe Six Pack.
Sure, its much easier to scare them.
If you don’t vote for republicans, then the terrorists will kill us all.
Conservatives have more respect for Joe Six Pack.
So much respect that you call them a nickname that implies that they are drunkards?
Nice.
/ Most liberals ARE average voters.
A person who drinks a six pack is a drunkard?
If you don t vote for republicans, then the terrorists will kill us all.
Great slogan! I love it!
