Cue The Headline Cliches Now

It’s not every day a team with the name Heat wins a championship. I’m sure the “smoking”, “fire” and other derivative headlines will be in full force. Congrats to them. They’re a long way from the Heat teams of my high school years in south Florida who’s big star was Rony Seikaly. I didn’t watch a single game of the series though I hear Dwayne Wade is good. Also, what is wrong with hockey? They finished their season in the middle of June?

Most important: two and a half months until kickoff

    The Heat won? Cool.

Now come on, the NHL playoffs are two months of hard work to win the Stanley Cup. It ain’t like that pansy basketball where they take up to nearly a week off during a series. The only bad thing about this season is the fact that Carolina won, so for the next year you’re going to hear alot about ‘redneck hockey.’ Heaven help us.

By the way, the Capitals will hopefully build a team around that Russian rookie of theirs and maybe make it back to the playoffs someday.

    Go Cowboys!

Especially when you’re allowed, like Wade is, to punch your opponents in the gut.

Because Lebron has someone like Shaq and Gary Payton on the team…oh wait. Wade is a sissy punk just like Reggie Miller. Falling down when not getting touched. It’s like watching the damn World Cup. Meanwhile Shaq can swing around and hit people in the chest with his 60 pound arms and not get called but maybe 5% of the time. I say screw the Heat. I hope Shaq retires so I don’t have to hear Bill Walton talk about what a great big man he is anymore. Bill Walton should never have been allowed on television. Along with Scottie Pippen. Watching his interviews while he was on the Bulls was an embarassment to the city of Chicago. Wow, I’ve wanted to rant that for awhile…

I agree with Oliver, Go Bears. (If Grossman gets injured again I don’t know what I’ll do…probably hibernate for the winter…)

And, of course, Wade had a little more room to roam than did Bron, since Shaq had to be double-teamed down low. Even at 50%, Shaq is the best traditional pivot in the game.

Bron’s the best player in the game right now. Scary.

Dwyane Wade is better than good, he’s incredibly good. Obscenely good. What LeBron tried to do with the Cavaliers–carry them all the way to the championship on his shoulders–Wade actually pulled off.

I still respect the Mavs, but Wade was a force of nature.

Mike – So you don’t think Griese is a capable backup?

Grossman still has yet to impress me. His game against the Panthers was flashy, but didn’t get the job done…three long bombs in his first couple possessions, all going to nobody.

  8. mikebdot says:

Griese doesn’t impress me much in the past. I think at least with Grossman there is a chance at a decent future. I think if they got some receivers that could run clean routes everything would be just fine. Plus, he was still coming off the injury in that game anyhow. They were in the game at the end. That’s all I ask. Orton was awful. Plain and simple. It was a similar lucky season as was the year they got the crap kicked out of them by the Eagles (2000?). Hopefully these new defensive backs will help too…

In any event, football is much more exciting than basketball. I do enjoy hockey though. I wouldn’t mind if it were year round actually (since he complained about it ending in June)…except, I don’t get the outdoor life network so can’t watch anyhow. Stupid Evansville, IN…
