Please read the comments to Matt Stoller’s horrendously wrong attack on Jon Stewart and understand that purging for the sake of purging is an amazing waste of time and energy.

    Jon Stewart isn’t liberal enough?
    Crimenently!

  2. Diamond LeGrande says:

Let’s not eat our own, guys. There’s plenty of the enemy to eat.

  3. Frank, finally I agree with you on something.

  4. framefan says:

Stoller and posters Illustrate the point of view on the left that you are only funny as long as you toe the ideological line. Stewart might be a liberal, but he is a COMEDIAN, not a politician. Comedians are opportunists, they use what material they have to get laughs. If JF Kerry were sitting in the WH now, he would be the butt of endless Stewart humor.

  5. Matt Stoller says:

I didn’t call for a purge. I just said that he’s no longer funny consistently.

Why do you freak out when I criticize a pop culture figure? What is the deal with liberals who can’t handle criticism?

  6. Freak out? You said the guy was a weenie because he didn’t toe the Dem line on something. Look at what your readers are saying – not only is Stewart funny, if he became nothing more than a Dem talking head he wouldn’t be nearly as funny as he is.

But, under no circumstances, would the humor reflect badly on his liberal ideology.

I don’t buy that. Funny is as funny does. If President kerry did something stupid, ideologically or not, he’d get called on it.
    Just like W.

  9. Because Jon Stewart never made a funny about Clinton’s libido.

    And it was funny.

  10. Frank_D says:

Liberal comedians never make fun of liberalism…
    Show me an example.

  11. Frank_D says:

Again, I’m on the “too hot to handle” list…

  12. Turn on Daily Show any night and you’ll see Stewart make fun of liberalism – whether its about race or not offending people or being “politically correct”, etc. And I’m the first one laughing. It’s the right that can’t ever be lampooned without them harrumphing.

    “Freak out?”

Yes. You said “horrendously wrong”, and that was certainly an over-the-top reaction to Stoller’s piece.

I usually watch for the time it takes to dump on Bush, or republicans / conservatives.
For that reason, I haven’t passed the three minute mark.
BTW, when is Ann Coulter due on?
