Gore-El?
There is the ring of truth to the parallels between Jor-El trying to roust the people of Krypton to their impending doom and our own Al Gore. You gotta wonder, have Kristin, Karenna, Sara or Al III manifested any strange powers under our yellow sun?

I think Gore shaved off his beard because it made hime too easily recognizable as GENERAL ZOD!!1!1 OMG!!1

Well, we always knew he was from outer space!
Wait, does that make Al the third Superman?
And is Gore Vidal Zor-El? Or Supergirl?
Bizarro-Gore want less ozone, more yellow sun rays, get more super-powers.
Well, lets just say that even us gloomy conservatives would agree that the best analogy for Al Gore would most likely come from a comic book.
Dugger
“Such gloomy conservatives are still stuck in the outdated idea that comic books can t be taken seriously as actual literature. ”
To me, serious literature is what I like to read: old mysteries, which would hardly qualify as ‘serious literature’ at any major college. Its just hard to apss up an easy one at some one so pompous and full of vitriol as Al Gore.

I’ll see your description of Gore as “pompous and full of vitriol” and raise you any random conservative pundit. Your description is hyperbole in comparison.
Oh, and I took an entire college course on old mysteries and detective fiction at my Big Ten college. It was excellent.
“I ll see your description of Gore as pompous and full of vitriol and raise you any random conservative pundit.”
But republicans don’t consider Limbaugh or Coulter to be presidential material!
Since most of Gore’s vitriol is directed at people who are demonstrably fucking up the entire planet, it’s more forgivable than say, It making jokes about how Democrats deserve to die for being Democrats.
Gore-El…
Oliver Willis, the DC area liberal blogger and die-hard Superman fan, compared Superman s father, Jor-El, with one of his favorite presidential candidates, Al Gore:
Gore-El?

Well, then, you aren’t all bad.
But I like old and really obscure ones . We aren’t talking Agatha and Dorothy. We’re talking Masterman, Locke, Poate, Todd Downing and bunches of other unknowns – whose books you can hardly find any more.
Dugger (I love old mysteries!)

Yes. I made a deal with OW to be the lead troll on this site. Paid a lot.
Dugger (not sure its worth it)
Am I the only guy whose comments never show up?
I’m starting to believe Dugger
No, Frank, it took a long time for one of my posts to come up, but it finally did. I think it is something Ollie is trying to fix.
Well, Al III has the superhuman power to get stoned and drive at almost 100 MPH until arrested by the police…
(Comparisons to the Bush twins welcome)
J.
That’s not superhuman, that happens all the time.
Loathe though I might be to defend our honored host,
comments which get dumped into the moderation queue stay there until the site administrator releases them. Depending on how busy he is, he might not see them for hours; that could cause a delay in releasing them.
Mr Willis has never failed to release one of my comments from the moderation queue, even if it was critical of him — which most of them are.
Actually OW works his butt off (well, maybe now he gets some Soros money to buy some intern help) to maintain this site. And I agree with Dana. I get busted every now and then but I’ve never thought I was being unfairly singled out. Besides, same as with leftists and the oil business, , as a good conservative, its his site and he can run it like he wants, and if I don’t like it I’m always free to run my own site (just as they are free to start Progressive Oil).
Dugger, Far Afield.
There’s a reason why threads are called threads, and if A, B, C and D post, and then I wish to “continue the thread,” it doesn’t work well if I post, and then F, G, and H go off in a different direction, and then my post, E, finally show up.
It’s been happening to me for over a week.
