Greg Sheffield, Idiot

Background: for a while I used to chat on occasion with Matthew Sheffield, Greg Sheffield’s brother. The two of them made their mark on the web by being the minds behind the anti-Dan Rather attack site, RatherBiased.com. Even so, my conversations with Matthew were cordial even though we disagreed on much. What’s intriguing is that Matthew made it clear to me that while he disagreed with Media Matters on a lot, he thought that the Media Research Center was hacky at best, and dishonest in the way they saw bias in everything.

So imagine my surprise when the Sheffield brothers pop up as the engines behind Newsbusters, the MRCs bloggified attempt at aping Media Matters. That said, Greg Sheffield, the genius behind the amazingly unfunny (still. still!) “Gaggle” comic strip is now up in arms because The Ministry of Information Reuters did not run an appropriately flattering picture of Dear Leader.

Idiot.

I’ve always been a big fan of their brother Gary.

I don’t know that the photo is derogatory of Bush, so much as it reflects poorly on the photographer who submitted it and the editor who ran it. But poor aesthetics are hardly a partisan fault.

Very “cordial” of you to call the guy an idiot.

Hardly poor aesthetics. There’s no question the photographer knew exactly what he or she was doing when taking the picture. It’s composition is highly reflective (says a thousand words if you will) of Bush’s current embattled political position especially on the immigration issue which is what he was giving the speech on. Sheffield is an idiot because he can’t handle the truth.
