The Gore Boomlet

Interesting uptick in Al Gore from TradeSports recently.

Price for 2008 Democratic Pres Nominee(Others on Request) at TradeSports.com

It’s hard for me to write about Gore from purely a cold analytical POV. Gore’s the first politician I ever became a fan of, way back in 1988 when I was only 10 and barely understood what was going on in the electoral process. I became more excited about Clinton’s run because of his selection of Al Gore as his running mate. One of the ongoing themes of The West Wing tv show is that everyone involved in politics has their one “guy” they’re all for (Bartlett for Leo, Santos for Josh). They may really like other pols - in my case I’d count President Clinton and Sen. Edwards among the pols I really like - but you have that one. For me it’s Al Gore.

I really hope he runs, if only to push the other Dems in the running to be real. And hell, he will be the only one in the running - Democrat or Republican - who can say they got a majority of America to vote for them for president.

I would guess that this piece didn’t go over well with some… You know, the kind of people that would monitor Algore’s current stock over at Tradesports on a daily basis, hoping for a boomlet… or perhaps the kind of people that would jump into the…

As much as i hate to admit it, and despite the fact that he’s become completely unhinged, Gore wins in a walk against anyone the Republicans nominate with the exception of McCain. I base this on the fact that the “undecideds” will probably wanna give him a “do-over”. I just hope for Al’s sake that this time around he gets advisors that know that it’s the electoral college, and not the popular vote, that determines the winner.

In fact, Gore makes so much sense as the nominee that the Democrats will probably be too stupid to see it.

And speaking of Josh on the West Wing, i used to find him pretty annoying, but ever since that episode during the sixth season, when he popped that pompous, annoying jerkoff Toby in the face, he became one of my favorite people on TV for that act alone.

Yes, Cyrus, as gentle as you are disgusting …

Sorry, but Hillsy will shred big tepid Al.

Hillary doesn’t get to decide the nominee, we do, and based on some of Hillary’s moves the last year or two Gore gets my vote if he jumps in the race.

    Exactly right, factcheck.

I heard Krauthammer say it and i said to myself “i love that. Unhinged. I’m gonna keep saying that for no other reason than to get under the skin of little tools like factcheck.”

Obviously it worked. You’re too easy.

Ok, Cyrus, how is Gore “unhinged”? Seems to me you people were calling him “wooden” before.

Or is this “unhinged” meme something you saw on Fox News and you repeat it uncritically, like a good little parrot?

Personally, I think it’s unhinged to send 2,500 (and counting) soldiers to their deaths in an unnecessary war, but I’m funny that way.

Nice non-answer. Again, the question posed: How is Gore “unhinged”?

It’s kind of funny that you use that word, because many of us in the reality based community notice how many of the right wing pundits all came up with this descriptor at the same time.

Calling Democrats names allows you people to avoid addressing the nature of his comments.

Maybe you could try coming up with a thought of your own in the future, rather than parroting what you see on Fox News. That would be great.

Yeah, I’m not sure what makes Gore “unhinged” in comparison to many mouth-frothing pols on both the left and the right. Is it because of the global warming thing, which is almost unanimously agreed upon by everybody except Exxon/Mobil execs?

And even if it were, how is the state of the planet a partisan issue? I thought we all lived here.

    Fact,

“Ok, Cyrus, how is Gore unhinged ? Seems to me you people were calling him wooden before.”

It IS possible to be both. As to unhinged, try the quiz.

So now you’re comparing a Vice President to a terrorist? Way to go Dugger, you just achieved the feat of making a dolt like Cyrus look rational. Good job.

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 Dugger

    fact,

I notice you no longer dispute the “unhinged” assessment of Gore.

That was quick, but then if its a fact, with your name, I guess you must acquiesce.

Then let me dispute it. That quiz revealed absolutely nothing. I wonder how many George Bush quotes could be compared to a kindergartener’s in a similar quiz. And I’m sure the quiz taker would have just as much difficulty figuring out which said what.

Can we automatically conclude, therefore, that George Bush has the mental capacity of a five year old?

  18. Gravatar Icon 18 factcheck

Dugger, unlike other posters on this board, I don’t pretend that your viewpoint matters or deserves consideration. I don’t have time for your little games. If it makes you happy to think that Gore can be compared to the Unabomber, that’s between you and your shrink. Just shut your mouth when someone compares Bush to Hitler.

Used to be that Republicans had ideas. Bad ones mostly, but ideas nonetheless. Now all you people do is put down people truly dedicated to public service.

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 Dugger

    rounds

“Can we automatically conclude, therefore, that George Bush has the mental capacity of a five year old?”

Why you can conclude anything you like: that Bush blew up the levees, that Republicans sabotaged Sen Wellstone’s plane or that Al Gore is hinged.

Its a free country thanks to the likes of those Marines progressives are trying to deny a fair hearing to.

Dugger, But I agree that the quiz proves nothing - it is merely an argument

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 Rounds77

Then for what purpose did you link us to some idiotic quiz, for which you wanted someone to posit a response? To tell me you decided Gore is unhinged simply because you CAN make that conclusion in our free country?

Maybe those marines realized they were fighting so people can remain idiots and THAT made THEM unhinged.

Gore didn’t a majority in 2000, he got a plurality. The Nader voters were enough to keep him under 50%.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 Dugger

The quiz, rounds, is merely a prosecution case for Al Gore being unhinged - a proposition that most average intelligent citizens would not be able to differentiate his views form the murderous leftist Unabomber. I really don’t know if Gore is unhinged, but I think his views are extremist and that he would be an economic disaster of Jimmy Carter-dwarfing dimensions, should he be elected and the Congress half way compliant.
