Woah, that was good and entertaining. An excellent appetizer before the main dish.

There was one scene in the old “Lois & Clark” series that made me think it would be worth it:
Superman points a pistol at Lex Luther and says, “You want to know how fast I am?” and he FIRES!
…well, that, and Tracy Scoggins.
I figured I would give you most of the day….
I guess with all your movie-going and thinking about Superman, your forgot….
Today is Memorial Day….remember? Maybe you didn’t get the leftist talking points explaining what an idiot you look like when you try to get people to “support the troops”, and then just flat out forget about the one day a year that is all about “supporting the troops”
Maybe DU has some more “dirt” on the Haditha thing, you could post that for Memorial Day, eh?
Good to see the your true colors, though most of us “righties” saw them all along…
true enough, in fact, you don’t do ANYTHING to show that you support the troops.
Hell, even Kos tried to get in on the action and wrote a wonderfully mocking Mem Day “tribute”.
I salute your honesty Ollie, truly. Just stop trying to pretend (on any OTHER day) that you have anything but contempt for the US Military.
Lex had hair in that series. What the Christ.
Dugger, unlike the rightist idiots like yourself I don’t need to echo hollow sentiment in order to demonstrate that I support the troops.
Oliver, how many times have you made a point of writing about the media’s failure to cover something as representative of their support?
We know why you can’t bring yourself to write the briefest of tributes to our fallen soldiers, not even the ones from the “War Roosevelt Won.”
The best is you called Dr P., Dugger.
Nothing but the facts.
I love it. Pedro has gone from complaining about what Oliver writes to what he doesn’t write.
Does anyone else want to make the “thoughtcrime” analogy or can I?
Lex had hair in that series. What the Christ.
Well he sort of had hair as Hackman, too… granted it was revealed a wig at the end but Hackman wore hair through all three of his movies he appeared in.
naa, I’m not complaining…I am complimenting him on his (finally!) honesty regarding the men and women who have fought for my (and ollie’s naturalized) freedom.
Ollie couldn’t give two licks about our military, except as a tool to degrade republicans, or upgrade democrats. As far as Oliver is concerned, the military is just another pawn in the great democratic game.
Yeah, thats it. Don’t you have patients to deal with “Doctor”?
drpedro…you should take your WATB bs to those vacant fools on the right. Go to any intellectual sinkhole in wingnuttia where they release the sound and fury of their support for the troops and see how it signifies nothing when they follow up about taxes being too high. Republicans have degraded themselves quite nicely without any help from Mr. Willis. Democrats didn’t make Frist catch an SEC investigation, they didn’t make the VP’s office out an undercover CIA agent that worked on intell in relation to Iran’s WMD, they didn’t make Republicans take money from Abramoff, and they sure as hell didn’t talk about supporting the troops while quietly defunding Veteran Affairs and cutting money intended for our troops health care. 2 licks? I’d be shocked if Republicans gave 1/2 a lick for the military…If anything its the republican party that uses the military as a cloak and shield to hide their incompetence and corruption all behind a contemptably thin veil of “support the troops” lip service.
Guys, seriously. Laugh at the clown, don’t sniff his flower.
Hard for them to help it august.
It hits close to home, and they know, deep down that they are wrong for it. It is guilt, pure and simple…that is the downfall of the limosine liberal…they know other people are fighting for their liberty, but they can’t help but mock them rather than thank them
Sorry, still dealing with that last one. Wow.
Hard for them to help it august.
Wow. Just…. wow.
speechless eh pollack?
Common among leftist that can’t actually develop a coherent thought….keep working on though!
Maybe you can DRAW something understandable?
BACK OT (this time, On Topic)
I don’t know what the fanboys were on about, I thought X3 was more entertaining than the other two movies. I remember reading about the Dark Phoenix about 20 years ago, what’s wrong with changing a few things-otherwise it’s like going to the frigging opera-you know, where they tell you the story BEFORE you watch it (WTF?).
Liked the scenes with Juggernaut, some of the other mutants were cool…can’t really say much more without TOTALLY ruining it for the cheapskates who haven’t seen it yet…
Wow.
Wow… you can just watch pedro self-destruct. He’ll be down to “yo momma” jokes in hours at this rate.
Haven’t seen the movie yet, but for my money the best superhero medium was Justice League and Justice League Unlimited on Cartoon Network. Awesome stories that made them characters, not just super-powered prowrestlers.
limosine liberal
At least I know you’re not talking about me: I drive a 1991 Ford Explorer with 390,000 miles on it. And I just “bought” it again with $1,100 service.
Doug -
I highly disliked the film, although I felt it had its moments. It didn’t dig nearly as deep into the material–and this is rich, rich material–as Singer’s films did, and there were just too many silly character choices poorly masquerading as “operatic.”
I especially loved the part where [SPOILERS AHEAD] Magneto’s big plan to attack Alcatraz involved having the most powerful mutant on the planet stand back and stare at the battle. That’s some brilliant strategy, that is.
Off topic, drpedro seems to think that the best way to remember those who have died at war is to post shrill, half-baked screeds at “LEFTISTS!”
Common among leftist that can t actually develop a coherent thought& .keep working on though!
Pedro, Congress just decreed that English is the national language of America. You should learn how to use it.
penny wise and pound foolish eh mucker?
No brains, no headaches I always say…
August, I share your astonishment.
Doug R, after much discussion with my family, we realized that the cartoon on television provided more background than a distilled motion-picture (of course, the format provides more time than a theater experience–unless some studios would be brave and have a three-hour-plus movie).
Yeah, I save a lot on registration and insurance, too. Nope, not feeling foolish at all.
Pedro,
I love our troops and what they mean to our country and I am a liberal….Good enough? Don’t get ME started about how the Right abuses and mistreats our troops. You are ruining a reverent day by starting a pissing match. AS FOR THE MOVIE… I saw it and the only good thing was that they introduced a great deal of characters and storylines, but the acting, script and directing was abhorable. I loved the previous movies(especially #2) because they actually made them characters and made the storylines poignant. THis one was just bloated action piece that did the series a diservice.
Oliver, you should stick to DC and Superman because if you thought this was a good movie than you are easily amused. They used one of the greatest storylines(Phoenix storyline) and made it into a mockery. The action was entertaining, but the movie was a sloppy mess. I will go see Superman, but as far as storylines go, they are way more detailed than Superman.
The VA budget has increased EVERY year. Thanks for another example of the favorite liberal lie: increased funding = cuts.
without TOTALLY ruining it for the cheapskates who haven t seen it yet&
doug r: Thanks for the gratuitous insult to those of us who are waiting ’til the first of the month for our VA Disability checks. Some of us have children, and rent and utilities and stuff. But I guess that makes one a cheapskate.
Rude, crude, ignorant buffoon.
I guess your insensitve ignorance is what passes for compassion on the left.
Doug R. really does have a point. If you don’t soldier-worship on Mandatory Soldier-Worship Day, you don’t support the troops, even if you actually do like the U.S. military and think they shouldn’t be spent like nickels to make someone feel like a big man. Even if the whole rest of the year you lament the fact that the Bush administration is “increasing” funding for VA at a rate that doesn’t cover inflation and growing numbers of vets that need healthcare and then gloating about it, it doesn’t matter, because you casually mentioned that you liked X-Men 3 on MSWD rather than posting so treacle about how the army is currently defending our freedom by attacking strangers. Even if you want to have the troops safely home so they’re not blown up in the crossfire of the Iraq Civil War and say so on a regular basis, you said you wanted to see the new Superman movie on MSWD instead of photoshopping a collage of angels and eagles and tanks and the WTC and Saddam Hussein.
I’m just glad SOMEONE was bold enough to call you on it. And by posting a comment on your blog, no less. Now THAT is true patriotism.
You don’t even know the rate of the increases, do you? Another liberal failing…post without knowing the facts. Is nearly 30% during Bush’s tenure more or less than inflation? Is it more or less than Clinton’s increases?
