Well, when one party decides that they hate you…
Hispanic voters, many of whom responded favorably to President Bush’s campaign appeals emphasizing patriotism, family and religious values in Spanish-language media in 2004, are turning away from the administration on immigration and a host of other issues, according to a new survey.
The GOP is apparently pissing away the fastest growing demographic in America at just the moment when they’re becoming politically aware just so that they can appease the racist white guy vote. Works for me.
Maybe one of Dick Cheney’s other daughters is secretly hispanic?
The Law of Unintended Consequences is self-enforcing.
And as long as Democrats insist on calling anyone who opposes unfettered immigration a racist, those “racist white guys”, as you erroneously (and slanderously) call them, will line up at the polls to vote Republican.
When those illegal immigrants start voting, which has only happened in southern California so far, then we conservatives / Republicans will worry about their political views.
I hate everyone equally.
Since you appear to disagree with Frank, I assume you also disagree with the very premise of this post, right Repack Rider?

And as long as Democrats insist on calling anyone who opposes unfettered immigration a racist
Names? Citations?
Or strawman?
Honestly, while genuinely saddened by most of the crap I’ve heard from the anti-immigration crowd, I think I can live with the consequences.
Particularly since it’s not like the Republicans are actually going to do anything about it.
“Illegal immigrants start voting”
FrankD, illegal immigrants CAN’T VOTE. Only citizens have that right. ANd you can’t become a citizen unless you pass some very stringent criteria.
Right-wing bull is Busted again.
Thanks, cyberian, so illegal immigrants will never vote?
Wrong.
What about when they become citizens?
Perhaps now you have grasped the meaning of that sentence.
Leftwing dullard at work.
And as long as Democrats insist on calling anyone who opposes unfettered immigration a racist, those racist white guys , as you erroneously (and slanderously) call them, will line up at the polls to vote Republican.
This is precisely the point– keep the racists in the Republican party, and non-whites and whites who wouldn’t be caught dead associating with racists will vote for Democrats.
Look, I lean a bit further to the right on illegal-immigration issues than I do on most other issues, but the truth is that I’d rather compromise on that issue rather than give anti-latino racists the upper hand. That’s precisely the bind that the Republicans are in– they can’t crack down on illegal immigration without empowering the Tom Tancredo wing of the Republican party, much like they can’t give too much support to the pro-life movement without making the public realize that this will hand power to those who support a massive crackdown on contraception, as well.
So, Constantine, how do you like being a racist?
