It’s Funny Ain’t It?

The same guy, Jerome Corsi, who penned the smear attack book that the right-wing took as gospel is now peddling a conspiracy theory that Bush plans to merge America and Mexico.
Imagine that.

Don’t know what’s so weird about that theory; haven’t you heard of the reconquista?
Please leave those theories to the Malkin-worshipping wingnuts.
Mr Willis, my comment was meant to be humorous, but, as with any humor, there has to be some element of reality in it, for anyone to understand the reference. While it’s obvious that George Bush isn’t planning to end US sovereignty for some future North American Union, there are a lot of people who look at the “open borders” advocates (and yes, there are some people who advocate just that) as promoting virtually the same thing. If we are going to allow people to simply walk in, take housing and jobs here and consume American social services, it’s a little bit difficult to say that we don’t have some sort of NAU.
Don’t laugh too soon. This idea has long been a staple of some Neo-Confederate groups and others of similar ideology. They are serious about the stuff; it is not the stuff of fantasy to them. And there’s a lot of them.
For an example of how ridiculous this guy is one of his supporting points is that Bush is planning to expand NAFTA to include Canada:-)
It will be a cold day in hell before we admit Canada to North America
Interestingly, NAFTA is one of the main reasons that the immigration has intensified. Small corn and wheat growers in Mexicobenefitted from protectionist policies, that were largely banned in NAFTA. Since then, over 1 million small farmers have lost their land, as US Agribusiness undersells them in their own country. Those who have kept their land have discouraged their heirs from continuing to farm, leaving them to migrate north.
