Democrats are seen as better on these issues right now, but that’s because mostly we aren’t talking about them. We are benefitting from Bush administration missteps.

When national Dems get face time on TV, what we get almost without exception is a watered-down rehash of the GOP position. And this goes to a previous post of yours, Oliver, that voters want the Dems to fight. They can’t fight. It would be like fighting the mirror.

We see it on vote after vote, on issue after issue. The Democratic position is that we are better managers, not that we have better policies or that we are better for America.

“I’m a better manager” is not a rallying cry. We will fumble on the 5. Cause we don’t want to score.

And as I mentioned in a previous thread, the infamous “Bush at 29%” poll also gave only a 23% approval rating for Congressional Democrats.

But ABC News insists,

“… with Americans saying they now trust Democrats by wide margins to deal with Iraq, gasoline prices, immigration and more…”

Mmmmkay … something ain’t adding up here.

I am not seeing any cohesive message from them, they are wimps when it comes to criticism on Iraq and they just seem weak and spineless to me. Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, so it does not look good.

Much to my disappointment, I have little faith that the Dems will gain any significant ground in November, nor do I have much faith they will capture the WH in 2008. I am not seeing any cohesive message from them, they are wimps when it comes to criticism on Iraq and they just seem weak and spineless to me. Of course not. I am discouraged not a moron. I will hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I did a lot of campaign work in 2003 and 2004. I thought for sure Kerry would win despite being a weak candidate who shot himself in the foot too many times and did not fight back against the swiftboat liars. He soundly defeated bush in all three debates and somehow he still lost. I spent the night of the election at the Dem’s party and was just stunned; it was like someone died. So, you can understand my lack of hope. It is kind of like being a Cubs fan, just not quite that bad.
