You know, as long as the Guard is just there to look good, I’m pretty sure there must be 6,000 unemployed actors in Los Angeles and New York. They could pay Equity scale, but if these new “extra” border guards were required to say anything, they’d have to get paid more!
Here’s how the question might go: 6 months ago, on a television show, the Homeland Security Security was asked if bringing in the National Guard to help with the immigration problem was a bad idea.
Now it seems that the President has decided to utilize the National Guard in helping with the Immigration problem.
Isn’t that a “flip – flop”?
Tony Snow
Actually, no. The first was Chertoff’s idea, not the President’s.
Secondly, no one, including Chertoff, said that the NG would never be employed, under any circumstances, to help with the immigration problem.
But thanks for asking, Helen.
David?
Oliver, thought you might appreciate this: “Tar Baby” …and by “appreciate”, I mean, loathe…
So if 6000 NG work three shifts a dy there are perhaps 2000 on duty. The border is how long, say 1300 miles? I think bush may have been advised by Herr Rumsfeld on the size of this deployment.
