The skit was funny more because of bush’s ineptitude than anything else. The part about bush wiretapping phones to stop the scourge of steroids in MLB was a hoot. So has bush been a successful CiC? How about his non-performance on 9/11?
OK, now that was funny.
A comedic skit filled with ideas that are made of no less fantasy than the ones he was espousing in 2000, including that he would be a successful CiC.
Shows he’s kept his disappointement down. Good for him.
…yeah: funny… in a tragic-the-country’s-mired-in-an-undefined-foreign-adventure-in-a-distant-land sort of way.
Al Gore for White House Correspondant’s Dinner Speaker!!!
It’s funny how many of theses guys loosen up and develop a sense of humor once they leave office. I remember seeing Bob Dole making the late night rounds after Clinton trounced him and he was quite funny. Not at all the Norm MacDonald “get off my lawn” caricature.
Al Gore with a personality would be a formidable primary foe for Hillary. This could get interesting.
Dole was always a funny guy. Remember his quip when seeing Ford, Carter and Nixon sitting in a row at some event: “See no evil, hear no evil, and evil”
His problem was that he was the quinesstional example of someone perfectly suited to be a Senate leader for decades and not a president.
I actually agree with a post by Hedley (above). There’s a first time for everything.
