Yes, More Civility From The Right

Mary Cheney, Dick Cheney’s spawn:
Sitting in the studio audience when Edwards mentioned her sexual orientation, Cheney said she looked at the vice-presidential candidate and mouthed the words”Go F*** Yourself” a phrase her father had earlier employed against Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy.

Nothing like a self-loathing gay person. Talk about misguided anger. Maybe she should direct that anger to the people who want GLBT people to go away.
It doesn’t bother her at all that Alan Keyes called her a “selfish hedonist”.
If hypocrisy were water, Oliver would drown.
Mary Cheney responded to a political use of her sexual orientation against her father with about 10% of the bile that would result from somebody attacking Oliver’s stupid little dog.
You seem awfully concerned with other people’s civility, for a guy who describes himself as a “liberal bomb thrower.”
Totally transparent, totally full of crap. It explains much.
In fact, Oliver is making fun of the Instapundits and centrist democrats of the world who chide the liberal blogs for being insufficiently civil, not to mention the hypocrisy of a conservative movement that has built on a tradition of calling liberals traitors, seditionists, terrorists, communists and worse for the last 50 years.
The truth is Edwards was trying to say something nice about the Cheneys, albeit a little awkwardly done. The outrage stuff was for the neocon fold to make it easier for them to swallow the fact that even a staunch conservative like Cheney cannot control what his children do after they are grown. If she wants to support someone who is opposed to gay rights cause it’s her daddy’s boss, then she has every right to do so. It’s not like she’s starting a recruiting drive for the Log Cabin Republicans or something. http://online.logcabin.org/about/
Mary $$$ had every right $ and plenty of rea$on$ to $ell out gay$ and le$bian$ and $upport the GOTV effort in Ohio being propelled largely by a gay hating propo$ition.
Shit, she can buy plenty of freedom from discrimination … screw all the rest.
“Mary Cheney responded to a political use of her sexual orientation against her father …”
Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me. Don’t even try to peddle this ludicrous horseshit. The political use of her sexual orientation? Her father’s party ran on a platform that Mary Cheney was a threat to American society because of who she loved. Simple as that. Her father’s party ran on a platform that Mary Cheney had to remain celebate her entire life because pre-marital sex is wrong and she could never be allowed to marry to woman she loved.
If the Republicans want to continue to demonize gays and run as the Prude Party then the sex lives of every Republican candidate and their family is fair game as far I’m concerned. Fuck ‘em. Are Bush’s daughters still virgins? Have George and Laura ever used birth control? Did George have sex before he got married? Did Laura? Condeleeza Rice is single and never been married. Is she still a virgin? If she isn’t why not? Doesn’t she believe in abstinence? Why not? What does George think about that? How about Ken Mehlman? If these assholes aren’t prepared to answer all these questions and more then they should think twice about cpntinuing to pry into people’s personal lives by trying to legislate morality.
Fne points by all above, but pgg2 outshines the others by reminding us that Mary Cheney’s graceful “go fuck yourself” should be held high in the annals of civil political discourse. Mary and pgg2 are sisters in arms, something the rest of you just don’t get. And the hell with Oliver’s dog. Touche!
A post on “civility” that begins by referring to someone’s daughter as “spawn”. I’d laugh, if it weren’t so grotesque.
Oliver’s not standing up for civility, he’s laughing at Republican hypocrisy. The Republican commitment to civility is as dead as their commitment to fiscal responsibility, term limits, and foreign policy sobriety.
But TomY, at least the GOP had a PLAN for fiscal responsibility, term limits, and foreign policy sobriety. Perhaps it was all bogus superficial election promises they had no intention of keeping, but the mere fact that it was promised at all means there was a PLAN.
