Actually, these people were thrown out of time once they voiced any sort of objection to Dear Leader. That’s certainly the case for O’Neil, Whitman, Powell, Clarke, Beers, and Shinseki. Perhaps if Bush had listened to any/all of them he wouldn’t be among the more unpopular presidents we’ve ever had.

weasel eyes and ferret nosed ’shock of Recognition’ as he listened to Colbert
captivate him with all the criticism he is loathe to hear from any advisor.

I doubt you d find another president who has had that many people in his own government come out against him.

Which is pretty wierd because, according to the Left, he only hires people that agree with him. Remember all the “bubble” talk? Maybe, just maybe, BusHitler McChimpy has built himself a diverse administration.

And if you’re making lists, might as well add the EPA Chief (Whitman) and FEMA Director (Brown), both of whom have vocalized criticisms of their former boss.

Personally, I’m not altogether that impressed. Now, its like piling on. There’s no real honor in pointing out that the emporer has no clothes on when he’s at 32% (and falling). Now, if they had pointed out these screw-ups earlier, I’d have bit more respect. People like Brown, Powell and Whitman seem to just be going “me too!” in the hopes that they can salvage something of a career after this debacle…

No, I wouldn’t include Powell. Powell has been tepid at best, a disingenous liar at worst. And besides Richard Nixon, I doubt you’d find another president who has had that many people in his own government come out against him.

You know I keep having this thought.

Back in the Watergate days there were still what 20-25% who supported Nixon? I suppose that at parties and so on amongst themselves they defended him but for the most part no one heard what they said so a few years later they could all deny it and no real records exist for Historians to study and figure out “what on Earth were those people smoking?”

Thanks to the web the lunatic ravings and mental gymnastics Bush supporters constantly employ to defend him will be right there for posterity to study.
