The New Porrnographers have something wonderful going on with Neko singing backup. Their songs are a quirky punk pop mix – very catchy. They are a treat live (all the more so because you get to see Ms. Case in the person).
From Blown Speakers and Chump Change on their Electric Version album just make me happy when I hear them. There is not a bummer in the bunch – I have listened to Carl Newman’s solo stuff as well – recommended!

That I do have.

Whether that’s true for you or not, most of the outrage was due to them being anti-Bush. Cowardly, pretentious? What the hell are you talking about? They’re performers who said some shit on stage, no different than any other non-politician using their venue to express themselves, whether it’s the pulpit, the editorial page, or the blog comment. Don’t hide behind criticizing their method — just admit most people knee jerked against the content and were stirred up by Fox News, just like any rioting cartoon protester (in spirit if not in degree).

Maybe. But Neil also threw his support behind right-wing deity Ronnie Raygun in the 80′s. So hopefully some heads will explode before he’s through.

Young has also lived in the U.S. for 30+ years, so it’s not as if he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

And lastly, Americans pretty much gave up the right to bitch about foreigners meddling in the affairs of other countries the moment we stepped foot in Iraq.

I think the song is great, but, while maybe not about politics, I think the lyrics do relate to that whole thing back in 2003. Either way, even if it is political, it’s still a great song (I could care less about political issues of either side in songs.. just as long as it’s got a good tune.).

This one, Cowboy Take Me Home, and Travelling Soldier from Home are my three favourite DC songs.
