Why not? Snow has been shilling for the administration for the last five years. He’s experienced!

  2. cellulose says:

This administration is really fucking up satire.

  3. Frank_D says:

Another non – story from the National Enquirer of the blogosphere.
Fact 1) The White House may be looking for a press secretary.
Fact 2) They want a press secretary whose views are similar to those of the President
Fact 3) (If the CNN story is correct) Tony Snow may have been asked
Fact 3) There is no information as to whether he said yes or no

    And the news is?

Now if they asked Seymour Scher, or you, Oliver, now that would be news.

Unless, of course, you want to tell us that Carter’s and Clinton’s press secretaries were their political adversaries?

  4. Roni says:

Frank, do you maintain your own website to promote your opinions or do you spend 24/7 posting on Oliver’s website?

  5. pgg2 says:

Guess Dan Rather and Mary Mapes had other commitments…

  6. Fox is the quasi official propaganda arm of the rnc and snow was once kind of quasi-impartial its kind of odd that he would just suck it up for the administration. Its not earth shattering in the least, just another bit of evidence of fox’s lack of journalism.

I’m used to silly proclamations from Frank, but are you really comparing the nation to the Enquirer?

  7. Mike says:

And this would be different from former Clinton White House hack George Stephanopolous going to work for ABC News as an “objective” journalist because … ?

  8. Frank_D says:

Roni: Was that a comment on the thread? Don’t you have other things to do, besides comment on whether or not I have other things to do?
    p.s. As I have said many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many, times:
    IT IS NOT MY WEBSITE!
No, Oliver, I was comparing your (becoming much too) regular publishing of non – stories with hyperbolic headline to the Enquirer.

  9. Dugger says:

“And this would be different from former Clinton White House hack George Stephanopolous going to work for ABC News as an objective journalist because & ?”

    Yes.

Or former Democratic operative Tim Russert?

Dugger, Sauce Mr Goose? You, Mr. Gander?

  10. factcheck says:

If Scottie was going to work for ABC or Fox it wouldn’t be different. But in this case, Snow is going from Fox to the White House. Opposite way.

There is nothing wrong with Tony Snow becoming press secretary if that is what comes to pass. However, the White House and the RNC would be throwing away all doubt that Faux is anything but an RNC operation.

One thing that Bush admin press secretary and Faux newsheads have in common is that both need to lie as a job requirement. It makes a lot of sense that someone would see that one job prepares you for the other.

  11. Frank_D says:

However, the White House and the RNC would be throwing away all doubt that Faux is anything but an RNC operation.
You can explain that, I suppose…

  12. Dan Holzman says:

They want a press secretary named “Mr. Snow?”

I tell you, a political satirist cannot work under these conditions!

  13. buma says:

Maybe Fox should just orchestrate the whole press dept at the WH. There could be a logo and a musical intro to match the preferred theme of each press conference. A crawler at the bottom of the screen would provide a stream of propaganda for the duration of the gaggle.

  14. Quaker in a Basement says:

Or former Democratic operative Tim Russert?

    Or George Will?

  15. Frank_D says:

I’m sensing that it aggravates the bejebus out of you liberals that there is at least one TV news source that doesn’t tow the liberal line.

  16. duros62 says:

toe the liberal line? That’s a joke, right, Frank?

  17. TomY says:

It certainly aggravated me that in the runup to the Iraq war, every single media outlet got worked by the GOP noise machine. TV news only *toes* the liberal line when it doesn’t matter. When the chips are down, the GOP spins it every time.

  18. Frank_D says:

    That’s “tow the line.”

  19. Quaker in a Basement says:

Of course you don’t believe me. Click here.

  20. Quaker in a Basement says:

No, Frank. Duros has it right. It’s “toe the line.”

  21. Roni says:

    Frank:

    “p.s. As I have said many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many,many, many, times:
    IT IS NOT MY WEBSITE!”

    No shit, Sherlock.

Why not establish your own website? You, drpedro and Dugger? The 3 Musketeers? Seriously. You three promote your opinions and be correct 24/7. That way, you don’t expend valuable energy throwing insults or arguing with anyone who dares to have an opinion that is different from yours.

  22. Frank_D says:

Roni: Do me one favor. Before you go off on me the next time, please direct me to one comment you have made on this whole weblog that is on topic, and not devoted entirely to other commenters?
Everyone — yes, everyone — on this blog slings all kinds of mud at other commenters. But, in most instances, you can find amidst the mud, an actual comment, and maybe even a link to other info.
When you’ve actually made a comment, and been attacked by someone who has not even made a comment, but strolled onto the blog to fire at me and move on, as you and Jamy have done, you can’t complain about anything.
By the way, hot dog, the website I was referring to that was “not mine”?
    Is CondiPundit, Sherlock…

  23. Frank_D says:

Quaker: I sit corrected. But stand by my comment, as amended.

  24. Bushwacked says:

Fact 1) The White House may be looking for a press secretary.
McClellan has not been doing too well lately. Time for a new tap dancer who can dance faster.

Fact 2) They want a press secretary whose views are similar to those of the President

Just proves what Faux’s claim of “Fair and Balanced” meant:
Fair to Bush Only and always OFF Balance to the Right.

Fact 3) (If the CNN story is correct) Tony Snow may have been asked
The fact that he didnt respond is confirmation enough.

Fact 3) There is no information as to whether he said yes or no
It doesn’t matter, the fact that they asked him just helps support claims by democrats that Faux News leans toward this administration and the republican party in their reporting. They have loaded up their news staff with neoconservative repubicans with only a couple of “token liberals” without the stones to put up a fight.

I should “do you one favor”? LOL.

It’s not your website … but you get to spout your own unilaterial rules about how and when people can participate?

I take it your comments about your impending divorce, custody of your 2 teenage sons and posting your street address was somehow “on” topic …?

  26. Frank_D says:

OK, Roni, your freedom to be an asshole is indivisible.
    Excuse me.

  27. Frank_D says:

From Radio Ink: (re: the “Snow as WH press secretary” buzz)

One big factor in Snow’s favor is that the Bush administration seems to like all things Fox News, as evidenced by the recent release of Vice President Cheney’s list of requests during hotel stays. One is that all TVs in his suite be tuned to the Fox News Channel.

    No wonder he’s so smart!
    Hehe

  28. duros62 says:

Oliver, I’m surprised at you. Nothing about Scott McLellan’s resignation? At least he hasn’t said he wants to spend more time with the family (read: under investigation).

I was thinking how funny it would be if Pappa Bear O’Reilly was Press Secretary.

Frank; he’s so smart he can’t work the remote control!

    hehe
