Thanks, Jeb!

Finally, Jeb! Bush (this is why I call him “Jeb!”) and I can agree on something

Gov. Jeb Bush made it clear Friday that he will not seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Sen. Bill Nelson, regardless of who asks him to run.

“No, hell no,” Bush said when asked whether he would consider replacing U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris as the Republican candidate if she ends her faltering campaign to challenge the Democratic incumbent.

He said he often is asked about getting into the contest.

What if his brother, President Bush, called?

“No. (Not even if) Pope Benedict calls,” Bush responded. “I’m not doing it, trust me. I am not interested.”

Why would Jeb! want to delay the Harris juggernaut, anyway? Plus, Jeb! wants to run for president someday like his big brother.

    hmmm….No defense? Some defense?

I wonder which one I should choose?

A heck, if ain’t perfect the first time around, why bother trying, right?

    {yawn}….

why not talk about something more interesting…like one of your favorites…Missile Defense! Remember? Huge waste of money, never going to get off the ground, etc?

Sorry for hijacking the thread Ollie,

    I’ll shut up now….

“The system is still aimed primarily at development and testing, but the capability does exist.”

However, Flory adds, “Ballistic missile defenses are not as capable today as they will be in the future. The system in place is an initial capability.”

Yeah, this inspires confidence in me and fear in our enemies.

    It doesn’t work, DrDoper.

    Try a more reputable source.

  6. drpedro says:

Pidgy, maybe you could find a more CURRENT source.

And what is “DrDoper” supposed to mean?

Is it really supposed to say “DrDopey” which would sort of fit with puerile mindset around here

Or is it a drug reference, like I “dope”people up.

Inquiring minds want to know…cause otherwise it is just kinda silly…

  7. drpedro says:

    Sorry Ollie, I forgot you’re a rocket scientist…oh, wait, no you’re not!

I’m sorry, apparently people who ARE rocket scientists think it does. You see, that phrase “all men are created equal” doesn’t mean that everyones OPINION is treated equally, eh?

And how about your boy harry reid? Stalling the immigration vote out of crass interest in protecting his party from actually having to take a stand on something. What a cheap political hack…

“In private as well as public, Reid and Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record), D-N.Y., who heads the party’s campaign effort, said they did not want to expose rank-and-file Democrats to votes that would force them to choose between border security and immigrant rights, only to wind up with legislation that would be eviscerated in future negotiations with the House, which has passed a bill limited to boosting border security.”

What brave, big leaders the democrats have….I’ll take Dr Frist any day…

  8. Yes, they have a missile defense in place that doesn’t work. Massive waste of taxpayer dollars is surely a cause for celebration.

  9. duros62 says:

I’d bet if jeb’s mom called, he would reconsider it.

  10. buma says:

Would his answer be the same if asked about running for president in 2008?

  11. midderpidge says:

No DRDoper, I couldn’t find a more recent article from a credible source. No one really want s to write about it since Bush took all oversight and audit away from congress after repeated failed or rigged tests.

I just assume DrPedro was a misspelling on your part, I’m just trying to correct it for you. you’re welcome.

  12. duros62 says:

Does any of this have anything to do with the topic? See the top of the page.
Pedro, I think it is an anagram of your call name.

  13. BD says:

The issue isn’t “no defense” versus “some defense,” the issue is that it’s better to have the money available to work on “real defense,” not “maybe defense.”

Even a broken watch is right twice a day, but that doesn’t mean you should spend the price of a new Rolex on it.

  14. drpedro says:

    piddgy?

You have gotten awful quiet all of sudden….you ok?

All that reading above got ya down?

All conflicted that maybe Bush has made america safer for you and your loved ones?

  15. Too bad the missile defense system doesn’t work. Oh, it works when they rig the tests so that it works (sometimes) but it doesn’t work. On some level I would support a missile defense system, especially since it would be a preventative measure. But this one doesn’t work, and its a waste of tax dollars.

  16. midderpidge says:

DrDoper, it is hard to tout these tests as conclusive or even credible since oversight and audit of the entire project was removed from congressional oversight after several failed or rigged tests. What conditions were in place for these tests? Did they fall back to placing GPS tracking beacons into the incoming ballistic missiles yet again? That is where original criticism came from the whole project, when people started pointing at rigged and failed tests, Bush basically removed the entire project from public view and oversight. Defense contractor scientists and military spokesmen would never be considered to be neutral, independent verification fo test results. The closest would be the Japanese scientists who seemed pleased with the results of one joint test, but then again, they are developing their own seperate system and they may have different operational questions they wanted answered than us.

  17. BD says:

Pedro was apparently attempting, via inane taunts, to get somebody to interact with him at 9:14 on a Saturday night.

Not that I’m surprised that such a boring individual had nothing better to do.

And how about your boy harry reid? Stalling the immigration vote out of crass interest in protecting his party from actually having to take a stand on something. What a cheap political hack&

I don’t blame you guys for trying to change the subject to Harry Reid. I would too if my party’s leading candidate for the Senate in Fla was Cruella Deville.

    Two words for you, Peed’:
