See, all Malkin had to do was post the basic flight info right off the bat

1) Why not let the loonies run off their mouth a little first to embarrass them?
2) Basically, your point is, "See, all anyone has to do is prove they are innocent." Maybe critics should have to provide credible evidence of wrong doing? It took me only a few minutes to determine Malkin's timeline was consistent with her travel. To claim she should have to provide an itinerary everytime some idiot spouts off without checking into the facts is ridiculous.

JWG, I think the "army of Domenechs" was intended to mean "dishonest journalists," but I can see it being taken as a direct reference to plagiarism.

See, all Malkin had to do was post the basic flight info right off the bat and cut this debate off (more or less). Quick and to the point.

Ms. Malkin is a public persona who has staunchly maintained that she writes all of her own material. While I cannot say that I have followed this "controversy" at all, it seems clear that there is at least some evidence that she is not being entirely honest with her audience. What if an author, say Stephen King, revealed that many of his works were written by a neighbor or friend. Would fans of his work have grounds for a lawsuit, claiming that they were fraudulently led to believe that the works they were buying were by a favored author and not some unknown? As for Frank's melodramatic take on my previous post, I'm not advocating any punishment for her, nor am I even saying she is in any way obligated to act on any of these allegations. I am saying that she could clear the matter up herself rather quickly and easily. Instead, she seems to enjoy linking to blogs that call her ethics into question with what I can only surmise is a desire to "encourage" her readers to visit them.

Dkelsmith, who said she was guilty of plagiarism? Seriously, I can't find who said that.

Bottom line, as I said before, Ms. Malkin can clear this up herself by simply relating her itinerary (including when the articles were actually written).

Ridiculous. The only "contortions" are from those trying to claim she couldn't have posted like the blog cited by Oliver. Malkin is under no obligation to "prove" her daily schedule. If there's a Malkin conspiracy, then prove it, but don't try to make claims that a two hour window followed immediately by a four hour window isn't enough time to get from MD to MN when a quick search of flights proves otherwise.

Even if she had a ghost writer, she would not be guilty of plagiarism in its definitive or legal term. The guy that analyzed that needs more to do in his life obviously.

Bill L. You should read what you wrote in the clear light of day. For those of us who grew up in the tradition of "innocent until proven guilty," the idea that I would "clear up" someone else's accusations by "proving my innocence," is as foreign to me as letting cops in my home, without bitching about it.

Where the hell did you grow up?

Well, at least she doesn't blog on the boss's dime, right Oliver?

That wouldn't be ethical, would it?

Hilarious. Why doesn't Ms. Malkin just post her itinerary and end the debate? Why rely on blind speculation and defense? I really don't care who writes Malkin's garbage, but it is pretty funny watching the contortions people are going through to find a way to make it possible for her to essentially be a 24 hour posting machine that never eats, sleeps, takes a leak, or even actually finds time to "research" and write her content. If she "co-blogs," then why not just say so? Because admitting mistakes is a sign of weakness? Because it would call into question everything she has written? Maybe people don't want to buy books that might have been written by her husband.

Bottom line, as I said before, Ms. Malkin can clear this up herself by simply relating her itinerary (including when the articles were actually written).

Wow...this was *real* hard to find:
I found a one-stop flight from Baltimore to Newark (1 hour) that takes place between 6-8 am with a 1 hour layover and then travels to Minneapolis (3 hours) between 9 am - 12 pm (eastern time).
If the time frame fits...you must acquit.
Oliver, don't quit your job to become an investigative reporter.

You can fly from D.C. to Minneapolis in a 2.5 hour non-stop flight (I looked it up on one of those online airfare sites). How much time is there between 8:25 am and 12:31 pm? She also had a 2 hour gap between 6 am and 8 am if you want to include the possibility of a 1 stop flight through Atlanta.
Your conspiracy needs some work...keep trying Mr. Obsessive.

To be fair, though, Oliver, ghost-blogging isn't quite the same as the Domenech debacle, even though it is disingenuous if she won't cop to it. However, wouldn't it be the same as (or at least comparable to) the HuffingtonPost-George Clooney dust-up?
