D12 “sang” a “song” called “Purple Pills”. On the radio it was “Purple Hills”. Eminem is part of the group.

I can’t believe you just tried to equate yourself with Rush Limbaugh. Do you hate yourself? I mean, seriously. That’s like me trying to compare myself to Al Franken. Even my full blown socialist friends at the coffee house think he’s an ass (Franken).

  2. The only news I want to hear involving Rush Limbaugh, is the story where he dies, having choked on his own vomit.

  3. mikebdot says:

At the end he regrets that he was heard saying it. That’s pretty funny. Maybe Rush has been listening to too much rap lately and just couldn’t help himself. Can’t we give him the benefit of the doubt and pretend that he jams to Ja Rule on the way to work?

Maybe that’s why he popped those pills, too. ‘Cuz he listens to D-12.

Now, Frank, you know that one’s funny…even just a smirk?

  4. Frank_D says:

    Actually, no.

Oliver is to Rush Limbaugh as Paul Malcolm is to Frank DiSalle.

    And what’s D – 12? A singing vitamin?

  5. Dugger says:

Don’t like it and like he did a long time ago with the Chelsea Clinton jokes, teh Godfather oversteps here.

But then when someone talks a very lot or writes a lot, sometimes they can go a little too far.

    I seem to remember:

“The bitches in question are the voters of Florida, and all voters in general (including myself).

Sometimes I forget I m dealing with the idiotic here, or folks who haven t turned on a tv since the transition to color. ”

Now I wonder who would try to use the excuse that its OK to describe certain Florida females as ‘bitches’ because a popular comedian does it?

    Dugger

  6. mikebdot says:

Ok, Frank, you know I was kidding, but I’ll appease you and say “I didn’t think that was what you meant”.

If you want me to speak to your “meaning”, I can say this, Rush has millions of listeners per week, Oliver, at most, thousands. So, that would mean you would have to get every person to read your posts while only 1 per thousand reads Pauls. Regardless, it was almost funny in any event. But only because you put yourself on the same side with Rush Limbaugh in the analogy who you know is hated on this site. So, like I said, do you hate yourself? (joke)

  7. Frank_D says:

I can t believe you just tried to equate yourself with Rush Limbaugh. Do you hate yourself? I mean, seriously.

I didn’t think that that sentence was that poorly constructed. That wasn’t even close to what I meant.

And, midderpidge, your attempt at humor is noted and catalogued under, Pixels, waste of.

  8. factcheck says:

Cue wingnuts citing someone roughly assumed to be a liberal, saying something bad about someone, sometime, so it’s ok for Lush Rimbaugh to call a rape victim a “ho”. And after all, she’s a dancer, not to mention AA, so she deserves to be raped.

It must be great to be Rush and know everything. It must be weird for Rush to know everything, and be a drug addict, with three broken marriages and a recurring weight problem. How messed up is it that his hearing problem that was going to end his career came from popping Oxycontin?

  9. Yes, using an ironic phrase to refer to all people is exactly the same as calling a specific rape victim a “ho”. What’s it like being so stupid?

  10. duros62 says:

He said it was a slip of the tongue. Because he had a tab under it, makes it hard to talk.

  11. factcheck says:

OT, isn’t it rich that the ads that OW.com is being served lately mostly have to do with how to immigrate to the US? That must burn the bigots asses.

  12. Dugger says:

“The only news I want to hear involving Rush Limbaugh, is the story where he dies, having choked on his own vomit. ”

Nobody really hates as intensely as a leftist.

    Dugger

  13. midderpidge says:

Yes Frank we now know that Limbaugh hires strippers to do his lawn work. Makes sense, his maid also was his drug mule.

  14. mjb says:

“Nobody really hates as intensely as a leftist.”

This makes me think you don’t even read the rightwing blogs or watch fox or listen to savage, or hanity, or rush, or beck. If not, where do you pick up your talking points?

I say lets start listing all the hateful comments from the right which Dugger is surely not aware of. Here’s one from the most popular (meaning not insignificant) cable news bobblehead:

“Just listen to Air America. You want personal attacks, put that on. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. That’s all they do. All right. If you don’t agree with them, then they come after you personally. Disgusting, despicable. I despise them. I despise them.”

    and another:

“So, every day The Radio Factor’s on the air, we have these creeps — and they really are the most vile, despicable human beings in the country — who listen to every word of the program. And then they try to feed stuff out to the mainstream media to discredit me.”

  15. mjb says:

“But then when someone talks a very lot or writes a lot, sometimes they can go a little too far.”

Coincidentally, Franken dealt with this issue last week. During his regular segment where he has a dittohead on to see if he’ll defend things Rush said, this guy said something very similar to the “when someone talks for 3 hours a day ….” bullshit. Franken then told a story about how some republican media figure or politician told him that they scour Franken’s broadcasts looking for things to nail him on and they never find anything and he credited Franken with being “very careful” and Franken said that he doesn’t have to be “careful” because “it’s not hard to talk for 3 hours and not say terrible things if you are a decent person.”

The reason Rush constantly has to apologize for things he says is not because he has to fill time, it’s because he’s bigot. What ever happened to personal responsiblity you phonies?

  16. Quaker in a Basement says:

Nobody really hates as intensely as a leftist.

    You mean like this?

“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.”

  17. mjb says:

    More falafel:
“The left-wing websites who are responsible for all of this kind of stuff, and the journalists in the newspapers who print it without any context — are the worst element — non-criminal element in the country. The worst. All right? They undermine freedom of speech. They undermine all fair play. They are despicable, vile human beings — ankle biters.”

  18. factcheck says:

More hate from a lefty- oh, that’s right, this one is one of yours.

They are not my countrymen; they are animals who happen to walk upright and make noises that approximate speech. They are below human. I look forward to seeing each and every one in Hell.

To those conservatives who couldn’t wait to find wrongdoing where none existed: Gee, funny you didn’t get all hyped up about this with Bob Bork. Or Sam Alito. I guess maybe your common sense detector — or decency reserve — only kicks in when it gets you something you want?

You’re all dead to me, as well. Too bad: One lady in particular was a favorite writer of mine. Ah, well.

  19. mjb says:

    Jay Severin:
“A caller had recommended that we befriend Muslims living in the United States. [Severin] said that, as far as he was concerned, ‘the vast majority’ of those Muslims are not loyal to the United States and are ready, when the time comes, to take over this country. [Severin] asked several times: ‘Do you think we should befriend them?’ The caller said yes. [Severin] then said that he had an alternative viewpoint: ‘You think we should befriend them. I think we should kill them.’ ” [The Boston Globe, 5/5/04, quoting from Severin's April 22, 2004, radio show]

  20. Frank_D says:

I guess Rush has just lost the stripper demographic — the ones who wake up before 3 PM (EST) anyway

  21. mjb says:

OK, last two from falafel guy:
    “I don’t fear them; I loathe them.”
    and
“So look, I’m declarin’ war on the ACLU. I think they’re a terrorist group. They’re terrorizin’ me and my family. They’re terrorizing me. I think they’re terrorists.”

  22. mjb says:

    The inconcievably popular Michael Savage:
“Oh, you’re one of the sodomites, you should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How’s that? Why don’t you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it.”

Why are you people even continuing this thread? The anecdotes can go on forever on both sides. What’s the point. Grow up.

  27. nursepam says:

Really Dugger? What have you been reading lately? Certainly not the WingNut propoganda.

  28. JK says:

It’s just that it’s usually the radio personalities on the right that cross the line. And yes, I do listen to “left” radio…as little as there is out there, and have not really heard the same level of venom expressed as is routinely routine on the right.

Jay Severin has to be the worst example of a mouthpiece gone wild. He calls Al Gore, “Al Whore,” and Hillary Clinton….well, we can’t get into what he calls her on a regular basis.

We all saw the rush to judgement in talk radio, and on the Blogsphere with Ms. Carroll.

Those weren’t liberals calling her a traitor.

You clowns keep making the excuses that both sides do it. Yet, you know damn right well that the right DOMINATES talk radio. Simply saying both sides do it, doesn’t get to the truth, or the full measure of the right’s dominance of talk radio.

I don’t get it. I thought the new Pew study said conservatives were happier than liberals?

    JK

  29. Dugger,

Nobody really hates as intensely as a leftist.

Give me a break you whiny bastard. Nobody profits from their intense hate quite like a right-winger.

I just need to figure out how to turn my vitriol into some cold hard cash like Coulter, Rush, Hannity, Savage, Scarbourough, Severin, Boortz, etc…but that would probably mean joining God’s Own Party, and I won’t have that.

  30. goatchowder says:

See, what I find really amusing about this is the insulting, insipid, arrogant, completely unrecalcitrant, “fake” apology.

He’s not sorry he *said* it, or even that he *felt* it or *thought* it, but rather that someone *heard* him– in other words, he’s “sorry” he got caught.

    What an asshole.

  31. Frank_D says:

It s just that it s usually the radio personalities on the right that cross the line.

Yes, JK, considering that there are about a thousand conservative commentators for every liberal, that’s no surprise

“It s usually the radio personalities on the right” who say everything.

  32. Dugger says:

mr Curmudgeon, Your words speak fort themselves.

But just to reiterate whats gone on here, we have a complaint (justifiable)about Rush L referring to the persons involved in the Duk lacrosse incident. Fair game. Hwever, the the false rage and sanctimonious attitude are not justifiablee. Witness OWs casual refererce to bitches (Is it reall any different) and Curmudgeons charming wish that Rush dies choking on his vomit.

And I agree that OW is not Rush and Curmudgeon is merely an obscene juvenile hater, but then they are posting on this site and Rush isn’t.

  33. Wilbur says:

Nobody really hates as intensely as a leftist.

Dugger, I would amend your statement as follows:

“Nobody really hates as intesely as a leftist, except for a rightist.”

    Care to dispute that assertion?

Frank: by golly, you’re right: the vast majority of hatemongering blowhards on am radio are right-wingers.

  34. Frank_D says:

Yeah, Wilbur, that’s what I said… What are you, jealous? You can be on radio, too…

  35. Wilbur says:

Well, that’s not quite what you said, but I’m glad to see you agree that Limbaugh, et al. are hatemongering blowhards.

Me on radio? Well I do have the face for it, but I think I’ll stick to the blogosphere: a much more democratic (and hence, Democratic) medium.

  36. Dkelsmith says:

    Dugger,

I recognize the fact that you have noted that the outrage over Rush Limbaugh’s statements are justifiable, but I do disagree with your contention that Oliver referring to “bitches”, or Curmudgeon wishing that Rush would choke on his own vomit are the same thing. Number one, Oliver’s reference to women as bitches is laughable. Number one, because the pseudo street talk from Oliver is about as natural as Fifty Cent quoting Shakespeare, you really can’t take it seriously that he considers all Florida Voters to be “bitches”. Especially since he left himself in there.

The bitches in question are the voters of Florida, and all voters in general (including myself).

And Curmudgeon, though I cannot speak for his intent, said he hopes to hear about Rush choking on his own vomit, is probably more a slight at Rush’s own vice’s. It is amazing how some of the most vocal “mouthpieces of morality” always take a hard fall. (i.e. O’Reilly and the phone sex, Cosby and the sexual harassment and affairs and illegitimate children, Majority Party politicians and scandals and probes.) Him saying that alludes to his drug problem, and was probably as sincere as someone saying, “Oh I wish you would go to hell.”

But, for Rush to talk about this girl as being a “ho” was far from a benign statement. His allusion to this being a setup a la Tawana Brawley is sort of cold, but I do agree the guys are innocent until proven guilty. But to talk about an alleged rape victim as being a “ho” is wrong, and simply saying, “But Oliver and Curmudgeon said some naughty things too.”, doesn’t compare to that. The only thing anyone on the right, the left, or the center should say is. “What the hell was he thinking?” But, of course the popularity of most right-wing talk radio is the shock value. People like to hear other people say the things that they themselves cannot muster the strength to say in public.

  37. Dkelsmith says:

As long as I have been registered on this site, why am I still in moderation?

  38. Frank_D says:

/sarcasm off — forgot some code.

  39. duros62 says:

Does anyone else here think Rita Cosby sounds like Dr. Girlfriend from the Venture Brothers?

  40. Dugger says:

    DK,

Disagree. Rush put up some smokescreen over the air about Ho’s being common vernacular. True, and OW excused a reference to ‘bitches’ by saying it came from a comedian’s routine. If one is wrong, the other is wrong. Rush used the word ‘hos’ not whores, indicating he was to an extent ‘vernacularizing’ (Dugger-invented word). And if would be hypocritical for Rush to say, criticize OW, for his ‘bitches’ post – as is true of the reverse.

And you didn’t properly describe Curmudgeon’s remarks. He didn’t just say he hoped the man choked, he said he hoped he choked and died. I think juvenile hater is an apt description of MR C.

And note I recognize C is just a poster and OW a mid level (but rising) blogger. Whereas Rush is major talk radio (but AM).
